    I have used that summit cam on a stock '86 318 rebuild.i bought it mostly due to good pricing, in addition to a 600 summit carb, performer intake, and headers, original 302 heads, but fwiw, I was disappointed in it below 3000 rpm. I found the off the shelf comp xe250 to be the better performer...

    True that, but since no other information is given to previous block work, it is a starting point. In fact, no other requirement given except for, a street engine, 4.100 bore, standard stroke. One other nice thing about those pistons are their lightweight, lighter than the stock 340 pistons...

    For a street piston, these may work well for you. Hypereutectic with a deck height of 1.840 will put you .018 above deck, which will help with your open chamber heads. Relatively inexpensive at $390 amazon/$409 cnc motorsports. Negative is the thicker 5/64th ring pack, but what your 340...

    Every once in a blue moon I see something in good condition, and low mileage like that come up for sale here in Florida. Probably due to the high amount of senior citizens down here who give up driving and park them in their garages. Although far from Dan's hometown. It looks in good enough...

    I hear ya, a head that flowed 260 cfm ootb, and the porting potential into the 300 would be a one stop shop head for both the street and the strip. Besides the price, I remember not wanting to deal with the rocker shaft blocks when they came out. Of course there wasn't a FABO around back then...

    340 piston

    A good street piston none the less and inexpensive at cnc motorsports. Most forged pistons have gone the 1/16th ring package or smaller. Maybe some older trw type pistons available in the classified section with the thicker ring package
