Rain, Rain, Go away. Today was lots of fun, despite the rain!
See you all tomorrow with the Barracuda.
Meet Billy, the new owner of my 440 Van. An old friend from 30 years ago. I didn't see that trade coming!
I'll be bringing the 440 Van Friday and the Barracuda on Saturday. Stopped in Thursday to register and browse the swap area. Ran into some old coworkers from 25-30 years ago and it was so fun to catch up! Holy crap, have I been bustin' butt on both of them. better late than never. See ya'll soon!
Happy to say, this setup works wonderfully! Not surprisingly. And, I also traced down and fixed the issue that I was having when trying to add in vacuum advance and it would cause the engine to start popping badly as soon as vacuum was applied to the canister. Turns out the reluctor gap was...
Gonna give this one a shot tomorrow. Should be 6 degrees, according to the charts. Got it all back together with a good new Carter fuel pump and just fired it up quick. Fuel pressure is back up where it should be. Time for bed now but will check the results tomorrow. I'm sure it will be much...
Well, I fired mine up with the new FBO limiter plater plate set at the lowest level, 10* of crank advance and... it produced 16* with no vacuum advance. I had the idle set at 24* and it shot up to 40*.
There you have it. I'd say it doesn't do what it says it will do, with any kind of accuracy...
Well, I just installed and FBO plate in my dizzy with the intent to limit it to 10* of mechanical advance on my 340/416. I went with one light spring and one medium, based on threads I searched here.
It's bedtime now but I'll fire it up tomorrow and set/check the timing curve & play with the...
I see a guy from Mexico but lives in Houston, I think, (Rene Garcia) in a couple of facebook Barracuda groups who seems to do outstanding polishing/restoration work on these parts. Anyone ever hear of him? It also seems there are other people who steal and use photos of his work to lure...
Just put the round tube in a cheap rectangular box, problem solved! That said, I had him do my grilles years ago and it was a big improvement, but not stellar for sure. The clear is peeling and it was black stripe tape which started peeling right away, instead of paint. ALWAYS stored inside out...
I have the original distributor that came with my car, which I had welded up the slots to limit the advance before the engine rebuild to a stroker, though I don't remember what that number was. I may end up revisiting that setup before all is said and done. I believe that one has a vacuum can...
I read through your thread a few days ago (great info!), as I'm gettin' back into my ignition and timing curve stuff again. I'm sure you remember chatting with me about it a couple years ago, which I greatly appreciated.
Man, did life ever get busy and crazy and challenging for a good long...
UPDATE:
I got my car back together and took it for a couple of drives today. The 2-3 shift overlap is GONE! I also did many other things to the drivetrain while I had it out and I'm so happy with the results! Next on the list this week is to install a distributor re-curver kit from FBO Ignitions...
