muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

Iirc this and other Webers of the Italian made era are made of Zamac: Zinc, AL, magnesium and copper due to the weight of this body. That copper trace may be what im seeing at base of fuel bowl? The Chinese weber copies are mostly AL, softer and does not wear as well as Zamac hence the poor...

muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

10:1 Walmart "Klean strip" (2% final acid concentration) for the win! 10 minute soak followed by a dunk in 1/4 cup washing soda in a 1/2 gallon water neutralizer bath and then fresh water rinse. Follow up all unplated steel with WD-40 as they will flash rust. This was a 1973 Pinto Aluminum...

muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

I left a Carter booster in pine sol overnight and it came out spongy the next day. The reason I left it in overnight was because in 6 hours the pine sol didnt do **** to that Carter. I left a holley in the original Berrymans for 4 hours and it stripped the cad plating clean off. The video of the...

    Dimpled Pistons?

Has anyone ever heard of this being used successfully and how is it not mainstream on cars today if it is so 'good'? A 5.9 Diesel (?) reported like 15% increase in torque and HP while decreasing NOx and CO by like 66% just by switching to a dimpled piston. Im going to be putting brand new flat...

    Engine dies when warm

There you go! See if the divorced choke (the heated spring under that dome cover) even moves when warming from cold with a heat gun or something. Sometimes they break. If it does make sure its at operating temp and turn adjuster screw on side of spring (if it has one) or bend the...

    Engine dies when warm

Is the choke all the way off? Id let that thing idle for about 15 minutes and then tap the gas to make sure the choke pulls off the high idle ramp. It should set choke to wide open and settle into a 600ish idle. IF the choke never opens, hitting the gas will cause is to sputter and die. I had a...

Driver inlet rad on slant 6

I took a 90 bend off the rad and ran a 12" piece of PVC to a flex hose up around the timing cover. worked great but if that 72281 Magnum hose works, let us know! Im running an early Mustang Aluminum radiator.

    Slant six transplant ‘64 Barracuda

68 and newer is the break for small and large snout cranks/convertors. Get both >67 and youll be set. If you have a big newer convertor and a small crank, your SOL. other way around is doable with a Tflite Paddy (sp?) 1/8 wall bushing.

    Engine dies when warm

in gear and it dies sounds lean. Choked richens the mix (higher vacuum from the choke restrictions) and off idle its back to lean. Unscrew the mixture screw 1/2 turn and see if there is any difference. If not turn it back, its free. Another Gotcha is the fuel filter: if its horizontal, it can...
