    Carb Advice

Hoping you know that most any carb can leak at the shafts if pour fuel in it. That fuel lands on closed throttle plates making fuel seep out the shaft. Shafts are not air tight, and it doesn’t leak when running because there is a vacuum there normally.

    UPDATE on the trashed shackles

Yes, clearance. I moved the spring brackets inboard 1/2 inch front and back as well as the spring perches on the diff so I could put 10 inch tires an rims on. Without doing that the tires just barely touched the leafs. That 1/2 is all I could go anyway because of inner fender clearance. Darts...

    UPDATE on the trashed shackles

From my other post, this is where my rattle was coming from. Betcha I don’t break these. 1/4 x 1-1/2 plate and 1/2 shank bolts with nyloc nuts. The bolts have the heads cut off and welded into the holes in the plate. I used 1-1/2 plate because the poly bushings have a 1-1/2 outer section...

    mini starter??

I have seen some knock the nose of the starter off, but never seen the body get moved. On my trans there is a large stud that accommodates that larger hole in the starter body. I wonder if some used a regular bolt in that and that lets the starter move.?

    mini starter??

The one large hole and one smaller is the normal small block/Torque Flight starter. I’m running one on my 5.9/42rh even. Curious why it won’t fit yours.

    Spacing alternator bracket with washers

If no one quotes, then you have no indication that there are replies unless you go back to the post and check. Don’t know what tools you have, but I used a 4 inch grinder to take the shoulders off of 2 nuts. Then put them on a bolt and stuck that in my drill press and used the grinder and a...

muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

Nice. This is what I meant when I said it works if you use it correctly, and that it works on some materials and not others. Thanks.

UPDATE on the failed Acell ignition module.

Actually I expect it to go that way. As far as shipping goes, when I ordered a Classic Auto Air climate control system and the compressor was bad, they made me pay to ship that back. Almost $2,400 for the unit itself Then $150 shipping, r134 twice, and about $25 to ship the bad compressor...

I was checking on a rattle on the right rear.

I have been wanting to do the curvy mountain road to Jerome AZ again but was putting it off until I checked into the rattle. Guess that was a good decision.:D

UPDATE on the failed Acell ignition module.

No indication at all. But they might not honor it since the plastic locating pins are missing. For our use those have to be removed. Maybe they won’t know enough about it to notice.:D

I was checking on a rattle on the right rear.

Yep, that would do it.:D Factory hangers and poly bushing. They even had factory lock nuts on them. Some even the pressed in stud gave up. Jees, both sides.
