I bought this Lancer (170 model) about 12 years ago, did the body/paint and it has sat. It has now got a few bubbles here and there. Pretty solid car in general to say the least. Complete car, 3 on tree, was 170 c.i., now 225 goes with and also a A230 3 speed manual plus the original 3 speed...

^^^ I agree, but I dislike the 73 up interior plastic, the tiny inside door handles but yes it can all be done. 5 mph bumpers are so UGLY on any car!!! Those thin bumpers make the early Dusters!! Decent project/builders have got hard to find around here and silly asking $ and always too darn...

Even back in back wood Missouri, GOOD 340's would bring $1000 up 20 odd years ago, easy, if std. or a good .030. The wore out ones at .060 were not wanted period. Like said, a guy needs to be able to measure the taper in the bores and look at what he is buying. Its still a crap shoot sometimes.

I agree with the above statements, but myself, I hate the plastic interior pieces, as in the plastic covers in the A pillow, top of doors, the SMALL interior door handles, the silly 5 mph bumpers...I really don't mind the beaker look so much. And pretty much fact is any old car built after 71...

Check with Browne Salvage, Sunset, Tx N of Decatur for needed bone parts. Good guys IMHO

Ok. is good state for old car hunting, but most are rough and hard to find anything less than $1500 or so. Be careful of wood hippies and old guys that will shoot at ya.

Every state is different. I have a 75 car that a PO had changed out dash pads and thus the vin was left on that swapped in dash. It came into Tx from out of state so it required the Tx DPS to check it out and they saw the issue. TX DPS then stamped their vin on the B pillow and issued a Tx...

S E TEXAS .... today 101, heat index 120 in the shade. Paint them and set in sun, Verify temp with the HF heat gun and it will read about 150 degrees!! Done.

LIke the old 76 Duster I bought a couple years ago. The oem ECU had ALL the back side insulation melted away long ago, but it ran perfect. I bought a new ECU to carry for a spare. OK... I should find another old 50 year old ECU to carry for a SPARE!! :rofl: :steering: :thumbsup: :BangHead...

I call them good projects if they have frame rails!!!! Rusted away frame rails scares some of us Southern boys! I fixed only one in the last 76 years.

I have had many 70-2 Dusters over the years as many if us, but those year cars as projects, around our 4-5 state area have dried up and IF you find one, they are even more stupid priced as 99% of all the projects out there anyway. Just life. Last year I was seriously searching for a 73 up...

The thing about these models is they never sold that many when new and 99.9% have been crushed. The ones that weren't crushed sat outside for 60odd years and have rotted into the ground. Most people consider them "homely". (I like them) Is what it is.

1. Her son is learning body/paint work in prison. 2. If a tornado takes out the mobile home, the whole family can live in the RoadRunner. 3. Back in the 80s, 90s especially I have seen this situation many times. Sometimes even an old hemi car missing the hemi and vin and trim tags. Ok.... so...
