You can think that if you want to. I'll see what size intake runner's those heads have. The engine was designed and built to spin to 7500-8000 rpm's. This guy knows his stuff.
He bought the cylinder heads new but I don't know if they were bare or not. I do know that he had a 3 angle valve job done along with a back cut on the valve's. He reworked the bowl area. But my luck would be like you said. Now he's building a 4.3 V/6 for his vega. Heads are stock, they are...
He ran stock 400 block. I don't remember the exact details but he said something about the block having a higher nickel content I believe it was. I do know that it was a truck block that he had machined for 4 bolt splayed main caps, align bored, bored / honed 0.030" with torque plates, had...
He ran speedmaster cylinder heads and he did all of his own port work. Remember, this is a sbc and they cost about half of what a sbm would cost. I wish that I could remember the name of the parts that he used. He got a forged crankshaft for $400. Like I mentioned earlier he bought everything...
I don't know for sure if he still has the parts list. He got some awesome deals on those eBay stores, he showed me the cost difference and ebay was a lot cheaper than the mail order stores.
It's hard to put a figure on this, as machine shop cost vary from one place to another. And parts cost, depends on where you shop. A good friend of mine built a 650 horsepower 406 sbc. He bought his parts off of eBay stores and they were all name brand parts.
Has anyone heard from toolmanmike since the tornadoe went through Iowa? I sure hope that he and his family are okay, and anyone else on here that lives there
