plastic exhaust manifold trays 273 drivers exhaust manifold

I have a set that I believe came off of a 318. At least I pulled them from a 318. Maybe they weren’t original to the engine. I recall that mine look a little different than the ones pictured. I’ll get some pics when I get home. How many versions are there?

How would you rebuild this 318?

.468. 224/[email protected], SFT. Low compression ‘73 340, stock bore, 273 rockers, stock heads/manifolds, LD340 intake. I would like to optimize the iron heads and use a different piston and head gasket. It’s my cruiser so I don’t want to tear it down yet.

How would you rebuild this 318?

I like my cam (222/224 @.050, irc) but the 1:1 on my 3.21 rear gear is just not quite doing it for interstate travel. With the OD I’ll be able to be comfortable with the posted 75 mph interstates. I can also cruise 1st gear in parking lots without lurching!

How would you rebuild this 318?

I like this plan. AJ' s post convinced me on the 833od and 3.73 or 3.55.

    D100 rearend in A body

I have seen the 8-3/4 rear in 4x4’s and not in 5x4.5” bolt circle. I forget but it akin to 5x5 or bigger. Plenty of c-body cores for cutting.

    D100 rearend in A body

If you find a D truck or B van 8-3/4 please don’t cut. They are somewhat uncommon. Many of the trucks came with Chrysler (not Dana) 9.25 rearends. I would love to find one for my truck.

    Front/rear suspension options?

I’ve never done it before but thought about your type of build with a Duster I had. If you are starting with no suspension whatsoever you could end up spending nearly as much on stock stuff as a HemiDennynor Alter-K-tion. Stick to stock /6 take-offs and you’ll be in savings. Aftermarket brake...

    273 Rocker on 340

I have a set on a 340 and they work fine. No grinding. Small cam/springs. I also have a set of Comp Cams Magnum rockers (not 5.9/5.2 Magnum) on a 318. They were $600 more than the 273’s. That’s a good looking cam. I have always liked my cams in that neighborhood. My 73 Duster has a 222 @.050...

    1973 360

I’ve got a similar cam in a stock compression 1973 340, 4-speed. Z and O heads. LD340. HFT. 273 rockers. Runs pretty good with 3.21 but definitely wants 3.55’s. It really wants some compression and cylinder head work.

    Where to go next?

5 hours from Phoenix. Head west on I-8, exit north at Ocotillo, CA and head up to Julian, CA for gold panning and fresh apples. Then head back to I-8 via Hwy 79 through Lake Cuyamaca and down to Pine Valley, CA. Plenty of Air BnB or traditional BnB’s in Julian/Cuyamaca/Pine Valley. San Diego...
