    18" Wheel help

looks great, I like the deeper dish, but that doesn't allow tire rotation front to rear...a 3" wider rear end would take care of that....XJ 8 1/4" rears are 3" wider....

Ford 8.8 rear end for my 64 dart?

pretty much. 4L definitely, 3L can be a little more iffy.

Ford 8.8 rear end for my 64 dart?

also look at ford Rangers. you lose the disc brakes, but they're 58.5" wide vs. 59.625. or if you find a pre 93 ranger, they're 56.5" wide, but I think only available as a 7.5" rear, not an 8.8.

[FOR SALE] 1973-1976 10" front drum brakes and spindles

I just did a disc brake conversion over the winter, so I'm offering the 10x2.5" front drum setup from my 1976 duster. spindles use the later big ball joint and upper control arms. 5x4" bolt pattern. Drums are in excellent shape, as are the shoes, everything worked very well when removed. I...

    Wiper Blade refills?

I need to stop assuming you can find anything on the internet.....I stopped at the oldest parts store in town (been in business for 101 years, they don't have a website), and they had 2 new 16" anco refills amongst all their misc wipers, so I bought them both...1 set is now on the car, the other...

    Wiper Blade refills?

anyone know of a source for wiper blade refills for the factory arms? my wiper blades are shot, and I don't really want to put aftermarket black blade assemblies on my car, since my silver blades are still in great shape, the rubber is just toast. is this the only source? it looks like they...

    [WANTED] B BODY REAR END

maybe a little bit of both. just stating that the perch issue isn't an issue since a B body rear has them in the wrong spot and they'd need to be moved, unless you moved the front spring mount outboard and used offset shackles in the back..... missed earlier that you said '68-69, so it should...

    Rear Versus Front Tire Widths

just be warned...the shock mounts were not designed to carry vehicle weight, only transient damping loads. when we bought my duster when I was 16 in 1991, the car had air shocks on it and both shock mounts were ripped out of the floorpan. it only had 50000 miles on it. your mileage may vary...

    [WANTED] B BODY REAR END

to fit in an A body, the spring perches need to be cut off and relocated to 43" on center anyway. What is the wheel mount (drum face) to wheel mount (drum face) measurement? what are the brake size? 10x2.5? 10x1.75? 11"?

    ride height question

It does drive and track very nice now. I know if I back the bars off to get the front down to where it was before bringing it in, it's going to affect the alignment. I'm guessing it will increase negative camber a skoash, which would in turn cause the toe to go to more toe-out? How would it...

    ride height question

when I assembled my suspension and did the initital setup, I had put the UCA's in a position for max caster (my moog offset bushings installed for max caster, and then the front adjuster all the way out, rear adjuster all the way in) welp, got the car aligned yesterday, I gave the tech the...

    Tire fitment 68 Dart

I hate that everyone talks about and looks at backspace. offset is what is really important, it's measured from the center plane of the wheel. rim width is bead seat to bead seat, not outside edge to outside edge. generally, the outside edge to outside edge measurement is 1" wider than the...

    ride height question

yeah, the rear is sitting about where it should be, I was expecting the 6 leaf HD's to lift it up a little more than it did over my old 5 leaves based on the pics of BrianT's car, (it's about 1/2" higher than the 5 leafs were)...it might be nice to get the back another 1/2" higher or so at the...

How would you rebuild this 318?

no, it's probably closer to $2k, but I'm just saying if his rods need to be resized or if he needs new rods, that subtracts from the cost of the stroker kit differential.....

    ride height question

pretty much level. both are about 25.25", but the rear tires are over an inch taller (215/70's) that's probably the bigger reason I don't want to raise it up more, is I don't want the nose up look. had I realized it would be sitting this high, I probably would have bought the magnumforce...

    ride height question

I can't remember if the hole on the LCA is slotted, I was going to see if I can shift it outboard and gain clearance, next step was to potentially take it off and reprofile it on the bandsaw at work to get some more clearance, as it feels like when I push down hard on the corner I'm getting to...

Blue pill or red pill = 675 or 920

agree. if you do need to swap the heads at some point I'd look at upgrading the cam if it's a stock 318 cam.

    ride height question

sway bar links clear the frame pad for the bump stops. I'm more curious on others' ride height vs. lower control arm bump stop clearance. those are MOOG K3180's. mine's currently about 1/2"-5/8" max (see arrow) for the ride height shown--195/70R14 tires, at 33 psi, the bottom of the center...

    ride height question

yup, replaced all the bushings, and I torqued both the lower and upper control arm bushings after ride height was set and sitting on the ground on my makeshift turn plates (2 pieces of laminate flooring with grease between them, as seen in the front wheel close up)

How would you rebuild this 318?

just the difference in cost between repairing what you have now and a stroker kit is probably going to be $1500 min. if it needs to be bored and the crank turned, and new rods, at that point I'd probably put the engine in the corner, and see if you can find a running junkyard 360 magnum...

    ride height question

Hey all, I just wanted to get some feedback on my car after I rebuilt the suspension this winter and replaced the factory 10" SBP drums with '73 spindles and discs. I forgot to take before pictures under the car, but the pic in front of the building is from last fall before I did the swap. I...

    Wheel Adapters

it could also be the difference in casting quality from the 70's and now....I've seen some of those cast adapters crack when torqued to spec onto the car....either way, a billet one will be significantly stronger than a cast one, and the billet ones are less expensive to boot

    Wheel Adapters

cast aluminum, especially if it's ADC12/A383 is quite brittle, with maybe 3% elongation at break, with a yield strength of about 22ksi/UTS of maybe 30KSI. 6061T6 is much tougher and more ductile with 17% elongation at break, 40KSI yield and 45KSI UTS. that's not opinion, that's fact. hit a...

    Wheel Adapters

I used hub centric 6061 billet adapters on this car to be able to use Bullit rims back in the early 2000's, NEVER had an issue with them over 8 years. they were 3/4" thick, the wheels had a pocket behind the spokes between the lug holes which allowed the lugnuts to the car to sit in....they...

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

so, my duster's 7.25" is 57.125" wide, drum to drum, assuming your rear is about the same. IF you like the wheels, but want to tuck them in, here are a couple potential lower cost options that might be cheaper than new rims: if you get an explorer 8.8 rear and do the trick where you shorten...

Identifying my Current 15 Inch Wheels - and thoughts about wheel replacements

until you break the upper shock mount because they're not designed to carry vehicle weight.......when we bought my duster in 1991 with 50K miles, it had air shocks on it and both upper shock mounts were completely ripped out of the unibody.
