Some dyno testing you guys may want to follow on YouTube

Although I've not had my wideband installed yet, plugs looked decent, manners and driveability were great. I took out of box, jetted 2 settings down on primary side, 1 step down on secondary side, to account for my 3200ft elevation. I took great care to ensure throttle positions were...

Some dyno testing you guys may want to follow on YouTube

I agree, ultimately it would be better with 2 4150 carbs well tuned, but for the cost and simplicity, the 650 AVS2's are a great setup. Those are currently on my tunnel rammed W2 408.

    Edelbrock aluminum heads

In my opinion, I wouldn't spend the money to rebuild old heads. When the smoke clears you will likely spend 60-70% of the price of a new set of Speed masters or Performance World heads, and have an inferior head at the end of the day.

    Edelbrock aluminum heads

However, in the case of Edelbrock, the prices have drastically gone up while quality has surely gone down.

A fact many are unwilling to admit. The Edelbrock castings of late are not the same quality as the Speed Master or Performance World offerings.

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

For the sake of clarity for others reading, AVS and AFB carbs are not vacuum secondary carbs. The butterfly valves on the secondary side open with application of throttle, beginning about 65% of primary opening, and are fully opened together. Air flow through the secondary side is controlled...

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

Why would you compare a 650 Edelbrock to a 750 4150 style carb, that isn't the question? Furthermore, wouldn't a direct comparison between the 650 Edelbrock and 750 Edelbrock be more inline if trying to decide on cfm requirement for a given engine? For those that like the 4150 style carbs, a...

    Comp's XE Cams

I do not have an OD, I run an A833 with a 3.09:1 first gear and 1:1 4th. This allows the use of a 3.23 gear without losing a bunch of 1st gear multiplication. 3.55's are also fun with this setup. A Gear Vendors, or Passon Hemi OD look appealing to me as I don't want to cut up a factory 340 car.

    Comp's XE Cams

I don't disagree, however tire height can play a factor. With a 27 or 28" tire, you can easily get away with 3.55's. Additionally, a 4 speed, or lock up auto make a difference. One thing about gearing without OD, it is a game of calculated compromises.

Small block + 4 speed build

The W2 heads are iron. I have the closed chamber 769 casting heads, and they have been ported. They have not been ported to max, or fully hogged out, as mine is mostly a street application. Intake flow is 297cfm at .550-.600 lift, exhaust I'd have to look up to be sure as it's been a while...

421 Stroker with Trick Flow Heads/Intake Dyno - Redux

Nice looking car! Not a criticism, but an observation, I see my AAR fiberglass six pack hood isn't the only one bowed above the wheels. Before AAR folded, they claimed mine was the only one they had ever seen do this.

    intake installation dilemma

When I recently installed my tunnel ram, I did not torque any of the intake bolts, I pulled until quite snug with an 6" wrench. After initial running, and drive, I checked all bolts and they were still all snug. I've had no issue of any kind.

    intake installation dilemma

Not speaking from experience here, just my intuition. I can't see pulling 2 bolts, while everything else stays fastened and not disturbed, causing issue. Lord knows intakes have to be pried up when all the bolts are removed. If it were mine I would go ahead without much worry.

roller cams for la 360 /questions

LA roller blocks, and Magnum blocks share the same lifter. When my 408 was built, I used an 89 LA roller block, and brand new replacement lifters from Melling. So far no issues, .580 lift cam, and regularly spins to 6300rpm.

Well, today was test drive day! I didn't have a chance to install O2 sensor yet so it didn't get crazy. First comment, to anyone who believes tunnel rams are not suited to the street, you had better try one before you comment. Everything from part throttle tip in, leaving intersections...
