I will check, don't recall off top of my head. Both Quick Fuel carbs, both Q model, one 850, one 950. Both jetted and tuned on dyno.

    408 ignition curver advice

What do you base this on? Many of us with 408's have found quite the opposite, in fact, mine pics up considerably with a 950 over an 850. I'm not looking to start an argument. I just wonder if this is your opinion, or do you have empirical data to support this?

I'll bet it idles better with less throttle blade, and much more power and response on tip in?

    408 ignition curver advice

I had a custom curve distributor done at FBO last season. After removing the Firecore that I did myself, the custom curved FBO was an absolute dog. It was 18 initial, with mechanical to 32, all in by 3000. It was like I lost 100hp. I pulled it and made adjustments to mimic my previous...

My W2 408 also peaks at 32 total on the dyno. The combination of long stroke and closed chamber doesn't require a lot of total timing.

    Info on FBO ecu unit

I don't know the inner workings, but they are now digital to my understanding. I've linked this post to the new FBO owner in the hopes she responds and enlightens the group.

    Info on FBO ecu unit

I know my 408 W2 ran like a dog when my "specialty curved to my combo" distributor was installed. My old setup was 22 initial, 32 total, all in by 2600. The "tailored to my combo" 18 inital, 32 total, all in by 3500 was absolutely lazy. Felt like I'd lost 75 hp. I agree about the importance...

    Info on FBO ecu unit

I have a new one, just installed this summer. I replaced a Rev N Ator so I could run vacuum advance properly. So far so good! Distributor wasn't curved to my liking, but I rectified that myself.

    Disconnect battery when parked?

I too have a quick disconnect on the negative cable right at the battery post. Energized when I take the car out, terminated when parked back at home, or any period longer than say 30 min. Necessary, possibly not, peace of mind with 53 year old wiring, priceless.

    Timing curve mystery

Lol, yes the similarities stack! I too have a 4 speed, a W2 dual plane, and a Pro Dominator tunnel ram. I think I am going to try the Pro Dominator with 2 650 AVS 2 carbs.

    Timing curve mystery

For what it's worth, my W2 408 is at 22 initial, 32 all in by 2800. Mine seems to like a fair amount of initial. As soon as I get my E curve installed, I'm going to try locked out at 32 with a 10 degree start retard.

    MSD E-curve

Mini starter that will work with sb TTI step headers

Mini starter that will work with sb TTI step headers

Thanks for pics, Just to be clear, you are using Mopar w2 race heads, TTI step w2 headers, and a quick time scattershield? Are you using block saver plate also? Is there a pn# stamped into header flange? Thanks for help. How close is your #5 tube to solenoid?

Mini starter that will work with sb TTI step headers

FredS, Are you using a factory bellhousing? I am using a quick time scattershield and I am begining to think that might be the issue. Here is a photo of my starter, is this what yours looks like?

Mini starter that will work with sb TTI step headers

I thought I would post a few photos showing what I am up against with my 440 source starter. As you can see it is touching two tubes on bottom side and there is still a gap where starter flange bolts to scattershield. i can't tighten it any more because it is pulling it down on header tubes.
