I would say the u-joint too. Get a new bigger prop.shaft with bigger u joints and you should be fine.

Try the orginal 4 barrel carb Carter 3853 or 3854 and an aluminium intake Offenhauser or Edelbrock. Remember to get an early intkae due to bolt angles. Orginal distributor, shaved heads and 340 exhaust manifolds. Then you don't hace to cut the inner fenders. Good luck
