The picture was taken when Bob owned that car. It has 14x6 Cragar S/S wheels cause the old 13 inch Cragars wasgone when he bought the car back in early 2000. Factory wheels on these cars were Cragar 13x5,5 inch wheels. Polished aluminium centers welded to the chromed rims just like the picture.

That is the early style Cragar S/S wheels that came on the market in mid 1964. Center section is casted aluminium with added metal plates so it can be welded to the chromed rim. I have restored one set 13x5 and is working on the next set. Takes alot of work but they turn out great.

I would suggest a set of Goodyear Power Cushion 6.95 x 14 with white wall. CAn be bought at any tire store. Coker tire has them.

Week 21 of 1973.

This is how it looked this summer. I drove 3000 with it. This is by a river we crossed on our way from Mopar at the Strip in Sweden this year. After this picture was taken my son Jacob in the picture got a nice salmon!

I bought a set of BF Goodrich 7.25x13 bias ply and I'm very satiesfied. Can't compare to radial tires but you get the vintage look.

This is how the wheel locks when I started with it. It's the wose so I thought that I should start with that wheel. The other set for my hardtop locks shiny but needs a restoration too. I didn't know that the early Cragars were date coded!!!

I'm about to restore two sets of the early style Cragar S/S wheels. Thet have a steel rim with center in cast aluminium. The factory process was that the rim was chromed and then they added the center and spotwelded it back together. Has anyone on the website done this procedure?

The roads up here is pretty ok! But we have same dirt roads that I don't would be a hit with bias ply! How do they work on those roads?

I heard that too! A friend of mine has a very nice unrestored 1955 DeSoto Diplomat with a L6 and three on the tree and he drives on bias ply tires. If you cruise in ordinary traffic it's ok but you need to observe the road all the time.
