Did he cut a hole, or is there just no tunnel top? Those tunnels have a removeable top with different lids to suit the transmission...

Is it leaking? If it ain't broke. I have a few pre-65 rears, nothing wrong with them. Definitely needed a hub puller to swap to 65...
