Steve, here’s a pic of the Plymouth steering wheel cap from my 1967 Barracuda. I’m not sure how the one you have attaches to the horn ring but this one just turns about an 1/8th of a turn to the left to remove it. There are three “spikes” that fit into the slots on the horn ring. Edited...

My 67 Barracuda does the same thing. It grinds going into second until the gear lube warms up. I’m running 90 weight gear lube. I have replaced all the synchronizer rings and that didn’t help at all. I just shift from 1 to 3 for the first couple miles. After the lube is warm, all gears shift...
