    Shop must haves

Shop is looking 2x as big already! He’s going to frame the garage doors next week and pick a couple up. Then he will get the electrical moved, to have enough 220 plugs. One for welder, one for compressor, one for mini split and then 2 for the lifts. Also waiting on the spray foam quote, which is...

Sorry for the pictures in the dark, all the lights are down in the shop. 2x10s being used for the new trusses, they were originally 2x6s. They look massive compared to the old ones. Then the plywood is delivered and will go up on the walls after.

I figured it was a roll up door, I haven’t found a good one yet, I’d like insulated ones but I’m not sure I can get them quick enough. The way I planned was 2 post on left to be able to pull through easier and 4 on right, but I can see by having them at the front I could use the back of the...

    Shop must haves

I’ll just use a couple amazon echos- cheap and easy to replace. This is what we use in my office and I’ve had no problems for 3.5 years. @halfafish what kind of shop door did you install on your new build? I think I’ll need some roll up doors, not really sure, but I haven’t found any...

    Shop must haves

Made a quick rendering. i added the 2 post and 4 post lift, 4 post on the right (not buying right away). Red lines are current doors, purple is current garage door at the back that I’m not moving the location, and blue lines are where garage doors will be. If I move the 4 post to the front of...

How did you build the work benches?

    Shop must haves

@Raskull I like the idea of having the lifts towards the back of the shop! Seems like it helps it feel as if it’s not taking up as much space as it actually is. I also like the dedicated work bench areas everyone has set up.

Ok I’m convinced. I’ll spend a little extra and just do the plywood. It’ll probably cost 1000- 1200 more to do plywood pfft

No sump, it’s just where the water comes in the shop, the outside spicket is just 20ft from there outside the shop. I’ll drill a hole tomorrow, we had friends over for dinner tonight.

Yeah I will do this, I haven’t picked the exact spot of the lift yet? I don’t know how far from the walls I should make it and how far into the shop would be best.

That’s exactly what I used on my walls. With air space it is close to 12R value. Your smart doing it on warm days, I was doing it last winter with no heat out there and I was freezing my *** off

It’s currently a 10in thick slab with rebar, was built 35 years ago but it’s thick. This is the 10ft walkway I wanted to close in but the drop in elevation is what makes connecting the 2 shops super expensive. The reason I show it is to show the concrete below the shop outer wall. This is also...

    Shop must haves

Plywood costs 2x as much lol. I’ve looked at tin and vinyl sheeting even used but dang those all run like 40 bucks a pop, a touch more expensive than plywood. But it’s probably easier to just do it at the beginning. I’m a music person, I’ll probably put a couple Alexa’s in the shop and just...
