I used a 12" piece of 1/2" black pipe, I sharpened the working end with a step bit. This allowed the heating of pipe to be shorter time, & still the handle part of pipe got warm.
Keep in mind a bad capacitor can kill a coil. I came upon my brother in law & my dad after they were on there third coil all dead. I had them change the cap + new coil , the engine WAS ALIVE.
At 71 & counting I work on my 37 ram & 70 340 duster, because I have always like working with my hands. Plus it beets sitting in front of TV until you die.
