    Spark Plug Question

0.050 on the gap. That seems to work best for me.

What is your preferred cut/buff compound for smoothing out orange peel?

OK, here is what I do. I wet sand clear (same concept as single stage Acrylic Urethane) with 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and then 3000 grit wet sandpapers using a block, NOT your bare hand. I like to use the softer rubber block like the one in the picture. Stay away from sharp edges with the...

    Will 1971+ 340 Exhaust Manifolds fit in a 67 A-body?

Yes it will work. Someday, if you get the chance, place your 67 Barracuda next to a 39 340 Barracuda with the hoods open. The engine compartments will look the same.

    Spark Plug Question

I have been using Autolite 65s in my 69 340 Barracuda for about 30 years. Our engines are quite similar I have a 340 built to about 375 HP, Headers, complete MSD setup (including their Manual advance distributor, coil and wires), Edelbrorck Air Gap and Edelbrock 650 Thunder series carb. The...

    X heads vs j heads

I was always told that J and X heads are the same except for the intake valves. If the J head has 1.88 intakes and you have 2.02s put in, you essentially have X heads. That is the way I understand it.

Factory disc question for those with stock disc brakes. NOT aftermarkets

I totally agree that the Master Cylinder could be the culprit. However, you did not mention whether you changed the front brake hoses. Old brake hoses can cause a slightly spongy pedal. I assume you swapped them out. Just asking.

    Would you use this?

Reading this made me think of something funny. I was an assistant Manager at a Western Auto for five years after I got out of the Air Force in 1993 while going back to school. One night a lady came into the shop and with a straight face asked, "Can you guys grease my son's rear end". We all...

This came on Facebook last night. 340 Demon for $1200

Great find. It doesn't really look all that bad for sitting outside for 35 years.

    Help picking radiator/fan for 440

Hey, @standup303, you could also contact Phoenix Radiators. I got one of their 'Perfect Fit' (or some name like that) radiators about 15 years ago. It not only truly fit perfectly, it looked almost exactly like a Mopar radiator. I painted it with Eastwood black radiator paint, put a stock shroud...

    Inherited my Dad's 69 'Cuda Formula S

Welcome. Beautiful car. maybe I am a little prejudice, but I think a 69 Fastback 340 4 speed is the best A Body. With the exception of the color of the car and the callout stripe, our cars are almost twins. Is that Seafoam Green? On my computer, I can't tell if it is the Seafoam Green...

    Floorpans - Best Replacement Option?

Some close-up pictures of your floor pans would have been a little better, but what I see does not look bad. I would consider cutting out the rust and welding and patches. If, however, the rust is worse than what I am seeing, then reproduction floor pans would be a better way to go.

    Quick... which way's better (225/273)

Although I do like V8 engines, I do have to agree with Rusty rat rod on this issue. Some of the neatest encounters I have had with people at Mopar car shows was somebody who had a slant six car that was pretty much untouched and original. They love driving the car, they love the attention it...

    Rarest A-body on Fabo?

Mine, obviously. 1. It was originally a Seafoam Green car that is now F8 green. 2. I completely restored it myself. The only things I didn't do was the chrome work and the machine work on the block. Otherwise I did everything myself; rust repair, body work, paint, engine rebuild, etc. 3. It was...

What distributor y'all lovin these days?

I installed a complete MSD system about 6 years ago; MSD box, non-vacuum advance MSD distributor, MSD coil and MSD wires. It runs very well. Plus, it starts much easier/faster and idles better now.
