    Combination for a peppy 340

Most guys tend to over cam an engine, and as many others have already stated neither of those cams will be that much fun on the street with a 3.55 gear. Also, you may or may not know, but the way a roller cam works it probably has the same effect as a hydraulic cam that's got 10 degrees more...

    Discount code thread

I have two 10% off Summit Racing coupons that expire on December 31st and there is no minimum purchase required to use. I'll give away to the first two that are absolutely going to use them and not waste them where someone else could use them. You have to call in the order to redeem them. They...

Overlap vs. Wider LSA - Detonation Resistance?

When you run a roller cam over a hydraulic flat tappet stick it also changes the whole dynamic. The roller allows you to open and close the valves so much faster. While wider rings do eat horsepower, they are a lot more forgiving in an engine that detonates over the skinny rings. Tom

    Which spacer is best?

At minimum I always run at least a 1/2" thick Jomar Performance, phenolic 4-hole spacer on any engine I deal with if for no other reason to isolate the carb. Racer engines, or ones that allow for more height I run a 1" Jomar 4-hole Power Cone on an open plenum or depending on the intake I use...

Looking into doing my first paint job next year.

I did my own several years ago and I can tell you that all I did besides prime and block a couple hundred times was order more supplies and visit the local paint store weekly. Finally, I just quit saving the receipts because I didn't want to know how much money I had in it. Buy yourself some...

    New Trickflow 295 heads

The new 9 degree Brodix head for a BBC is unbelievable and the Darrin Morgan DM500 head for a BBC is also amazing. However, in my opinion once you get past OEM parts with an aftermarket block and heads it's no longer a Mopar, Chevy, or Ford. It's an aftermarket engine at that point. Tom
