My backyard is way too small. Barely room for the clothesline and the fish for the TV. I have a ~10x10 concrete pad just off the family room sliding glass door, I park either my utility trailer for my mowers or my camper on it, either hangs over on the grass front and back...
My house is long...
What is called the "forward" clutch isn't the front most one as mounted in the trans, that would be the high,/reverse. The "forward" clutch which is engaged in all forward driving gears is actually the rearward mounted one in position within the case. There are 2 clutch packs in that overdrive...
I had 3.07s in a wrangler with the AX15 and 5th was all but useless under 55 with a stick 4.0 inline 6 and 235 15 tires even more so with the 31/10.50s I had on it for a while.
I wouldn't worry about an OD trans with gears (numerically) lower than 3.21/3.23.
Think you have that backwards
I put a NV3500 in my 93 318 Dakota with 3.55's that came to me with a smoked 46RH which itself got rebuilt and stuffed into my 92 Dakota
I also have a 96 318, 4wd club cab Dakota (first year for the "RE" version of that trans)
Bought it cheap 9-10 years ago with the trans and transfer case in the bed, I rebuilt the trans and been driving it ever since. My wife usually drives the Durango.
For the way I use it they don't do much...
Oh well in that case that would be a little different. Id still be looking at one of the kits from PATC or wiring to toggle switches to keep at least the OD working.
They do make converters that match your spline on the input without the lockup where they "forget" to put the lockup back in on...
Ice never had that short of life out of one, had a junkyard pull that didn't last much longer though, once. The one in my Dakota I rebuilt myself 84k ago. And still going.
The one in my Durango "only" went 58k before it went out but it's only got 314k on it total from new. I freshened it up...
Back to what we were originally talking about
A swap to a bigger 2bbl like the 360s and 400s had. I know this also takes a manifold swap to do it right (I don't like those cobble- small 2bbl to big 2 bbl adapters) but it will come with a noticeable improvement in driveability on an otherwise...
