Dana, im in the middle of this project also, i drilled the hole but cant seem to start the zerk. Do you have any advice for me? did you press it in or did you tap the hole
I have a set of number drills I use as pin gages.
I kept enlarging the hole on the PVC till I got to a size that the zerk would bite into.
I put a bit of paper in the socket to keep the zerk from moving deeper into the socket and pressed with all my might as I turned wrench, after a 1/2 turn it started to bite.

I'm not sure about "driving" in a threaded zerk, seems counter intuitive and wouldn't that drive more metal into the housing?
I see the zerk in the photo once it is installed has no flats for a wrench, but the photo of the package looks to have threads.
I had no idea there was a drive type zerk
It has a kind of one way ribbs not threads!
Drive type top, self tapping bottom.
