    I've run a Comp Cams solid flat tappet in my built 73 Sport for 5 years with no issues. As others have said, proper and timely break-in is critical. No shortcuts. And proper oil from then on. I'm running Amsoil with ZDDP and absolutely no problems.

    Mufflers like Dynomax

    I have the Summit 2.5 inch with H pipe setup and the Dynomax Super Turbos on my built 340 Sport. I love the sound from the outside. Inside, not so much. Cannot cruise and listen to the radio/CD player due to the noise.

    Lots of opinions here. I run Amsoil Dominator 10W-50 in my mini-stock flat tappet engine. No issues at all. For my built 340 Dart Sport with a solid cam street car I run the Amsoil 10W-40 Z-Rod with the zinc.

    73 Sport. Built 340, Chevy 200-4R Trans, 3000 stall, 3.91 Sure Grip. Ran mine through the radiator and then the cooler, then back to trans. No issues. I also have the finned aluminum deep trans pan.

    The Wilcap adapter is not an ugly piece at all. The poster must be thinking about another one. Here are two photos of my adapter. The kit comes with everything you need to bolt a 200-4R to the 340. And there is nothing at all to cut from the engine block or the trans. I am totally satisfied.

    Check out Wilcap adapters. I used one of their adapters to put a 200-4R behind my 340 in my 73 Sport. Fits without cutting the tunnel at all.

    On my non-Mopar race truck, I use the ATI Super Damper for my engine/trans angle. Then to the rear with the equal but opposite deal. Has always worked for me.

    A little something to keep you energized and working to your goal. My 1973 Sport 340 before and after my 4 year restoration. Mine was similar to yours - rusted out floor, both quarters and tail panel rusted, one fender replaced, new interior, new suspension. All the work you do will be worth it.

    I know every car is different. I have a 73 Sport with a built 340. I used the Dynamax Super Turbos to replace the Summit Turbos I originally had. The Dynomax sound good at idle, not too loud, and really sing under throttle. But the interior drone is terrible.

    Just for thought - print the wiring schematics and then get a long piece of cardboard and tape the schematics to it, in order. Makes following the flow of the wires much easier. You can fold it up when not in use. Believe me, you'll use it a lot.
