Where do I start to swap my /6 to a V8? Want to do a complete engine rebuild for '72 Scamp

excellent and realistic expectations 318 and 360 are going to be the more available and affordable options these two go hand in hand. if you want to rebuild it entirely from the bottom up, the total number is going to depend on a lot of different factors. one of the main ones is machine work...

    Has UPS rates went up

probably 1/2 that. however, dimensional weight is a killer no matter who you're shipping thru. it'll be cheaper thru pirate but anything over 20" is $$ now. pro tip: pay for the extra insurance. it's an ounce of prevention for pounds of frustration should anything happen.

A story with a cautionary note to it

stuff like this is how you get a nickname around the shop. you'd instantly be "double up" and everybody would leave o-rings on your box and bench for a solid week. glad you got it sorted without any damage. oil and tires can be a bad combo!

1967 Notch Incomplete Rolling Shell NOT MINE opening bid $1

this falls squarely in a "what if" category. what if it had a 8.75 out back and good suspension and brakes? that moves the needle what if you had a motor and transmission? that moves the needle what if you had a 30yr collection of various a body detritus holding down your shop floor? that...

How much distance is your K Frame tonthe ground.

while my initial response of "just enough to get the jack under it" was somewhat tongue in cheek, most of us have been around long enough to recognize that we're not using 5 tonners on these crap cans and most standard jack cups are about 4-ish inches tall or like i said it's average (or is...

How much distance is your K Frame tonthe ground.

that was a serious answer! the actual measurement inches wise? i dunno, probably 4" maybe 4.5
  18. J

How much distance is your K Frame tonthe ground.

just-t-t-t enough to get the jack under it. (sometimes i'll need to give the bumper a little tug to get there)

    SBM water pump questions

for the early cars, and until 70 it's cast iron this is my choice for waterpumps and has been going on darn near 30 years. https://flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/products/1701-3-1957-1970-mopar-dodge-plymouth-273-318-340-350-water-pump the "not enough time in the radiator" myth has been largely...

Chrysler Red Engine Paint: Duplicolor vs VHT?

no two reds from different manufacturers are ever going to match. i'd get enough paint to recover the whole thang. that being said the IH paint is dead nuts. the duplicolor red is good, but it's brighter.

Sad day when you cannot even give away mopar parts, off to the crap yard.

that's not true. when i roll out to swap i roll heavy and to sell ****. i take damn near the kitchen sink with me. sure i sell some stuff, but you know what i get mostly? tire kickers. time wasters. nickel dicks. the buying market is shrinking and those that are left are picky and aloof...

Mopar 340 camshafts - not mine

ohhh, that PN there is street hemi grind for small block!
  26. J

How streetable is this 1970 Duster?

this set up needs rpm to run. that cam doesn't even get out of bed until 3500 so all adding a gear will do is drop rpm at the expense of everything else-- power, economy and most important drivability.

Day 2 Style, but for road racing/autox

i always liked the way that the Group 44 cars looked. here's a thread from a ways back with some cool pics. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/looking-for-pictures-of-early-abodys-road-racing.359150/ here's a cool one:

How streetable is this 1970 Duster?

looks like rickey racer and johnny hot **** got together and split a rack of labatt ice and built the ultimate go fast machine of their dreams. that alone makes everything else sus AF to me.
  29. J

How streetable is this 1970 Duster?

this looks like a former drag car or saturday nite special that's either been de-clawed or never lived up to its full potential. for a first mopar, i'd probably say it's a pass unless you have considerable vintage car experience and are willing to put in some work and refine it a fair bit.
