CNC Mill Mark Removal in Intake Port

So with multi port fuel injection and the injector just above the valve… there is no time for fuel atomization at high rpm. And anyone who wants to tell me the length of the runner and head port is enough at 4,000rpm to “mix” and properly atomize fuel and air… I don’t buy it. Will rough runners...

    Long Tube Header Bolts

3/8 head hex header bolts and 1-1/4” length. (I believe) I’m running Doug’s headers on both my small blocks. Remflex gaskets.

Intake (heat shield) and metal gaskets?

A small chisel as stated and twist out with vice grips. Counter clock wise if I remember correctly.

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Yes! And this too. There are machine shops that will do Mopar’s and Mopar machine shops that will work on other stuff. The difference is night and day.

Cost for labor on stroker build?

Also to add: buying parts from the machine shop may cost a bit more but honestly it helps them stay in business. With that said - a good machine shop bores the holes and “sizes” them to the pistons individually per cylinder. You cannot do that at home… easily. Everyone is an assembly hero after...

    273 Rocker Arm Oiling

    1) this horse has been beat to death. 2) you never stated that in your initial post. You asked how does it work. 3) hand turning and priming an engine due to the geometry involved and oil paths does not always insure you get oil to the top during that procedure. 4) Rusty is a crank old b*stard...

    273 Rocker Arm Oiling

At rpm oil is flinging all over the place under the valve cover. Trust me… it’s wet

Identify coating on my 273 rocker arms

Black gloss paint. Rattle can. True value brand. Possibly 2005-2008. I also detect a hint of rosemary. I may be wrong on that one.

Harmonic balancer tightening (crank bolt) engine in car with 4spd manual transmission

So you rebuilt an engine completely and you are hung up on one bolt? Maybe a talk with a therapist could help. “The bolt is your friend, imagine you are the bolt. Imagine you are being tightened. You are the bolt. That is tight.” - $50 co pay please.

    Sanden A/C Compressor to fit a 273

    Sanden A/C Compressor to fit a 273

As somebody who has PS and AC and headers on a 273 in an early a body with the factory cast iron water pump the classic auto air brackets for a 318 be prepared for cutting and modifying ALOT! Best to do this on a stand and 360 degree views to keep the pulleys aligned so you don’t throw belts...

    1973 360

I used to race a 75’ 360 in a Demon years back. Earlier ones had core issues. Anyhow- flat top pistons and build the cam for the exhaust side. They need more exhaust valve open time. 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. Nothing special. Early 80’s I was getting over 400hp and like 439ftlbs of...

Thinking of switching from M1 single plane to LD340 but LD340 would need to be milled to fit. Is it worth it?

Doug, going from an M1 to an LD340 is a major jump. Problem is you have yet to tell us what you plan for the car. It’s like wood working- cutting plain Jane 2x4 then you use a 24 tooth blade. But cutting 1x6”oak for trim then you want a much finer blade like 80teeth. It sounds like the M1 did...

New Mancini Timing Cover Fitment Issue

So why are you asking us instead of calling Mancini directly? Honestly- no offense but it is like people lost their ability to ask / complain directly to a person and use the internet to do it for them.

    Headers

They don’t save temps- that’s BS. Heat is heat and you wrap them to cut back on heat. Manifolds are fine - but not for controlled power. REAL headers are built specifically for the individual engine and car, weight etc. Boxed units are a balance of looks cool and function. If you don’t coat...

    Small Blocks

I would ask for a different front suspension so the oil pan dumped in the rear. Mid sump or front sump on hard excelleration causes the oil to flow toward the back and not only starving bearings of oil but the weights of the crank now slinging oil everywhere.

QUESTION? What Engine Mount Brackets Do I Have?

You need measurements to be specific. Not as easy as a picture to tell other than small block or big block.

    Balancer slides in on install

I agree with above- the balancer needs to fit at least snug or the single job it has it cannot do. When they machined the crank they may have polished the end snout to remove burrs or drop dent or scratches. They may had put a locking compound like a sleeve retainer on it because they polished...

    NGK plugs.

Rabbit hole: Oil filters- most newer have gone cheap. Some got better with technology. Perfect example is Fram. PH8A- now junk. NAPA gold 1515- same filter but so much better internally. I get the idea about spark plugs but why would manufactures put in a “fail safe?” Unless the piston hits the...

    NGK plugs.

Maybe marine buys more so they get them cheaper? Or winter sale just to move them along. If they are genuine plugs those are very inexpensive. Boat people don’t mess around…. When on the water- you cannot walk home if you break down. I know I’ve bought “genuine Johnson” out board coils before...

Tear into it, or bolt in and go???

I always take the safe route and it ends up costing stupid money. I pull the cam out and find a nick in the bearing so apart the whole engine goes and $. “IF” you have the time- drop the pan and check how clean it is and replace the pan gasket. (Hardest gasket to replace in car.) Now if you do...

    Uh Oh

I think it’s where my missing socks go between the washer and dryer. lol! Just keep a mental note of it so when you remove the intake someday- if you have to, it does not do a belly flop into the valley and down into the cam area.

    I THINK I KILLED THE 340

Did you actually bolt on a cylinder head with clay and check the clearances with the valve train and a used head gasket?
