small block 671 blower ?

www.bigalstoybox.com and Dyers has kits too. I run a 8-71 with an Aussie Max Wedge Blower Manifold. A far superior product over the hacked up two piece intake manifold.

Other intake manifold choices are an Indy ModMan manifold. No pop off provisions are provided from Indy with this manifold and not even on their blower top plate..

StrokerSul is another cast manifold made in Portugal. This will set the blower towards the front of the engine, providing maximum distributor clearance.

thanks! that off set manifold looks interesting, is there usually a problem with space for the distributor?

Yes, there are big problems with the dizzy if you use the Modman intake. They can be overcome though, I did it. Hampton Blowers also makes a kit for us.

Indy could have designed a much better blower top plate that incorporates a pop off valve and a proper location for the blower to sit in, more towards the front of the engine.
Here's Indy's fix...lol $$$ offset distributor

Did you need one on your set up and who makes that off set distributor?

Rob, I didn't need an offset distributor as I used the Aussie Max Wedge Performance intake manifold. I do however have an "offset" 8-71 blower. That means the extra blower case length(1" greater than a 6-71) is towards the front off the engine, instead of the rear.
The offset distributor is an Indy Cylinder piece, costing $795..... If Indy put a little thought into their ModMan supercharger plate, there would be no need for the offset distributor. These are pics from Indy's website..

coyote jack did not use an offset dist. with the mod man intake he has a few tricks up his sleeve and he held his mouth just the right way to make it work .

Thanks all the info and pic ! so it looks like all the problems are space between the blower case and the disturber, not the fire wall ? Has any one used the StrokerSul if so did it eliminate the clearance issues?

Are the L142 and L144 Chevy blowers an option as well?
Those blowers are an option. 142 can be used on a 318. For a 360, I'd use a 174/177 with a 10 rib serpentine drive, eliminating belt slip. Bill Laney of Max Wedge Performance in Australia has blower manifolds for those blowers. You can definitely use a ModMan intake manifold with a custom made top plate.

The Max Wedge manifold has no clearance issues.
The Stroker Sul manifold definitely has no clearance issues. ****, you can go with a wide dist cap or HEI and have plenty of space there.
However, using Indy's offset distributor might result in clearance issues with the firewall....

Tunnel Ram and StrokerSul intake manifold.
This is the only pic I have of an assembled SB Mopar using a StrokerSul manifold.

Do you have a website or contact info?
These little blowers give excellent throttle response.

Negative on a website. Bill Laney is old school and doesn't have a website.
His blower manifolds are around $1200 plus $250 shipping from Australia to USA....

Here is the story on the Modman. You can redrill the holes that attach it to the intake to move it forward a bit. The other thing you can do is cut the back of the plate so it is even with back of the intake. After that you have to install a blowoff valve in the side of the intake. After all that it works perfect. You may also have to grind a little off of the back plate of the blower for a little extra clearance.

in the days of turbo's and pro chargers you just don't see this topic come up very often.... interesting read for us boring n/a guys :)

I have an Offenhauser blower manifold that apparently was done by Offy in 1990. It takes an Offy 4 brl manifold and converts it to a blower. Really nice job. Alkydigger currently has a new one on his site for sale. Wants a bunch of money. I'm currently building a 413ci smallblock with 6-71 and Hilborn bugcatcher. Hope to have it running before this season is over.

Just curious on whether or not you are going EFI with the Bug Catcher. I have been researching the subject for myself, there are pitfalls.
