which is correct way install- trunk weather strip ?

I am not sure if the weather strip lays flat or stands up any pictures would help

thanks 440 would you happen to have a picture on top along rear quarter it seems when i laid it in the channel flat like you are showing, i had to force it and it completely filled the channel
 
Little side down glue down, tightly against trunk frame lip.... big Side Up Touching trunk lid, mouth outward
 
Here's how to do it within 15 to 20 minutes Step 1 clean the entire area free of any debris clean it down with alcohol or some kind of an adhesive leaner that will completely remove oil grease or rust from the whole area.
Step 2 starting at center of the lock is where they originally applied the center... lay out the entire weatherstrip around so you know how much you have and how much to play with cut off excessive leaving at least two or three inches extra to be safe.
step 3 starting at the center channel of the lock center of the trunk slowly out a thin line of 3M adhesive about a foot and a half to two foot at a time...let it get tacky about five minutes and then apply in the direction shown in pictures continuously move on to the next section is slowly unevenly on the corners I used potato chip clamps to hold it in place so did not move

OK everyone. Last weekend I attached my weatherstripping as shown in the pic (Steele Rubber Products), but the trunk was extremely difficult to close. I was able to determine that the problem was along the rear edge of the trunk. This led me to believe that the strip along the rear edge should have been mounted vertically instead of horizontally, but then I found this thread. Is it common for the trunk to be very difficult to close?
 
difficult is good, right. you can adjust the trunk latch with the two screws there. the weatherstrip will compress some over time. tight is good!
 
In all aspecs of Life... tight is good right??
 
I find the factory seal on my old cars is not lined up/even with the lock/latch at all, more toward the right of the lock on few inches (passenger side). Doesn't really matter, though.

your car was no doubt built on a wed, the 3 rd week of the month during the summer! really, makes sense that the seam be at bottom on trunk. I have never been real successful sealing any truck 100 % of any mopar. there are also some models,like 68-70 b bodies that the engineers did not design trunk lid correctly and you will Never seal it!!!!!! ha
