i have a 70 dart 340 that needs quarter work, some floor work, trunk, and alot of surface rust.
i just picked up today, a almost rust free 71 scamp. it is a /6 car, but is rock solid inside and out. even the carpet is nice.

my dilema is, i like that the 340 car has fender tag and buils sheet, and i still have the engine/trans. but it needs gobs of work.
now on the other hand. the scamp needs minumum body work. most is under the vynal top. other that a small half dollar hole in passenger side lower quarter, there is not rust in this car. even the floors do not have any surface rust at all.

i love the darts and i lovet the dusters.
should i build the dart up, using the scamp for all the metal, and i would like to put the scamp frontend on the dart, as i like the front ends more.......................
i know it would not be worth as much with the scamp front end on it, but i like the look
help , help

oh, btw, did the scamp /6 come with dual rally mirrors?

Not worth it, drop that 340 in the scamp and have at it. That being said, if that dart holds a special place for you (say grandma/grandpa gave it to you) then do the work on it (I'm currently doing this one myself).

lol. that light is the first to go. lmao

nah, he dart holds nothing special, it is just that it is ONE OF 5,052 BUILT FOR 1970.................................................ooooooooooooooh, so rare.lmao

In that case I don't think I can help you.

well, my real turmoil is not restoring a real 340 car, but letting it rot to nothing. i could see if no title, fender tag, and build sheet were not avail, but i have it all. that is my only gripe with it, and for the 500 i paid for the scamp, it would live on in the dart

Why not build the scamp, and sell the Dart to someone looking to restore an H-code car.

cause no one wants to pay even 600 for it.lol, as it is a complete rolling shell now

I would love to have a original H-code A-body, I have no way to get the car or I would be interested.

no that scamp didnt come with those mirrors , you need to send them to me :) ...

Was that 340 you pulled out of the Dart original to the car? Numbers matching? If so I would say that its even more worthy of a resto.

i was told it is the correct engine, but the boss down near the oil pan is too rough to see the numbers, and there is no numbers up near the head...... so who knows

ill keep you in mind, if i find a nice dart front clip, i would restore the 340 car, and sell you the front end, but i may need it for the dart if i go that route

Sounds like you need another parts car. LOL Build a 408 or turbocharge the slant in the scamp. The 340 car needs restored. toolman

going from what i seen when you picked up the 340 dart it looked pretty much complete minus the air cleaner a nice starting point for a restoration i also liked the factory colors it has, but seeing how you tore threw it like a monkey looking for a bannana and got rid of most of it original parts why bother trying to fix it back up? yeah and maybe its one of the 5,052 340 swingers built for 1970 and it dont really seem that rare take into consideration the other 340 swingers for 70 that got into a accident or had some other monkey looking for a bannana so that number of 5052 kinda goes down some more right? so hell seeing how the 340 dart is just a shell of its former glory and kinda like alot of other factory 340 cars meet there fate just put that built up 340 in the scamp and run the dog crap out of it till it blows and part that out aswell then they can hang out with that awesome optioned orange/orange 71 340 duster you had

my .02 cents

If it was my decision I would restore the 340 Dart and drive the Scamp untill it was done. Then restore the Scamp while I drove the 340 Dart. Problem solved.8)

How bad is that 340 Dart? Any pics? Looks like you must have had some up at one point, but I missed them.

My .02, If you need new metal for the Dart, buy new metal. Chances are, when you blow the Scamp apart, the metal may not be as nice as what you think you have. OK for a driver, OK as installed, but just not worth reusing on another car. I know it's only a /6, $500 car, but it looks like it would be a nice project or driver. Keep the 340 stuff with the Dart, put a 360/904 in the Scamp and drive it while you restore the Dart.

well, i did not sell any of the REAL good parts off of the dart. plus, i have like doubles of what i have sold off of it anyway.

the one thing i do not have is a chunk for the rear.lol but i did not want 4:30 anyway

We need pics of the Dart8) I wold try to restore the Dart because you have everything for it.......that Scamp is cherry.......get rid of the spotlight and use it as a daily drive. Don't!!! butch it up.

they are on another thread. i deleted them all from my p.c

I think if you have the funds do the dart. Worth far more restored than the scamp. I am not sure where you are at but their is a decent looking 72 dart in cl bay area here in california. Front passanger fender is dented but 800 bucks you could pull what you need off that and sell the rest?

iirc, there were less 71 Scamps build than 70 340 swinger. I say they are your cars, so do what you want. The Dart had good colors, but there is something about a wicked bad Scamp too.

By the way, I would like the spot light if possible.
