First project buy - can someone help me with some advice and/or opinions?

-
well thanks for all the replies guys, I'm a little disappointed that you all say to pass on this one ...I was hoping the opposite would happen but this is why I decided to join this group in the first place.

let me re-phrase the question, for my own education ...what do you all think that car is worth?

$800 to $1500,.........and that is being generous.

theres a 73 duster with a 8 3/4 for sale about 5 minutes from me. i've seen it and looks like a good project to start on. its only about an hour from you and would be far more feesible than that dart @ 2500 bucks and it comes with extras!!!

Im a bodyman by trade and I wouldnt touch that with a 10' pole for that kind of money.

'73 Duster is right at the edge of being too new for my personal taste, that said I still like those cars, where is it exactly? There's a nice looking Demon on the PEI Kijiji but it's not a project and it's pricey.

I should start working on a wanted ad ...got to narrow down what it is I want first, in order:

'70-'74 Barracuda (yeah,yeah, I know ...)
'67-'69 Dart
'67?-'69 Barracuda
'70-'74? Demon/Duster (not that familiar with these)

Where are you located?

You might have to go south for your search but if you post a wanted thread here you have a lot of extra eyes looking for you.

You will have a hard time finding a good clean Canadian car here in Canada.U.S. cars are always cheaper there because there everywhere, here hard to find. That is a rust bucket but here on this site I have seen worse and brought back to life with lots of money. This Dart Came and was built in California,it has been here for 3 years now.Even if the seller says rust free ya wright there is always some.I paid 7500 for my car here in Canada think too much but for a solid car that will get me back my money one day its worth it.I did not have to replace any sheet metal.Buy south or west.

Yeah, I'd pass. If I paid $4k for a car here in California I'd expect to be able to drive it to Canada without any issues. :-D

I know that north of the border things are harder to find, but $4k will buy you a pretty nice A-body here in California. I paid about $1500 for the butterscotch GT in my signature. While it ended up needing an engine rebuild, it has ZERO, and I mean absolutely no rust whatsoever. And came with a fender tag, build sheet, numbers matching drivetrain, the whole deal.

There out there,I bet the guy who brought my dart back from California got it cheep, made a good buck off me.I dont care tho almost no rust clean title no under coating and a great starting point. This car god willing will be around for another 40 years+ spend your money once.

You have a very solid car with no replaced panels. I think your money ahead even if you think you may have paid a little to much.

Hi. Buy the best, most complete car you can afford. Depending on the model hunting for odd parts can add up fast. Unless you can weld and do body work replacing frame pieces and body panels is not cheap. I know where there is a 69 Dart for sale (don't know if it sold or not) on P.E.I. I've seen pictures only and it looks really nice. Its black outside blue inside 6 cyl. auto on column. From the pics it looked like it only needed front seat covers. He was asking 8000.00 I have his phone number if you want it. Bobby

Ok there was a guy may he rest in piece Wayne Row Classice cars.He would go south pick up solid cars strip them there and bring them back as So called scrap cars just a shell.Cost anywhere from 4 grand to 7 grand just for a shell.Your either going to get luckey or pay good money for solid car.20 years ago when I bought cars they were a tad rusty and hard to sell off,now all my cars are almost rust free and when I sell them I have people banging at my door,I do a decent job with out the high dollar tools and garage hell I do all my work in a portable garage.Good luck,it will happen.Thanksss zhandfull for the comment.
