hedman "tight tube" hedders?

-
snow has cleared , I'm out of hospital (car still in storage )l and ready for some headers or manifolds , . It looks like these tight tube will fit easily no jacking motor check ,no taking apart suspension check , jut drop in check , power steering , check , mini starter check , the only thing I see a problem with is the pipe from collector to exhaust system , do they make a pipe to fit up or do I have to fabricate ?
Is the above correct ?
Thanks

By the way it never ends , the runoff of snow took out a 20 foot section of my driveway , had to keep the car in storage an extra 2 weeks , my trucks and jeeps had a hard time getting to the house , should have taken pics , sank 2.5 feet in mud !

does any one know if these will clear the Z-bar on a 4speed? just what I needed, one more thing to add to the list of things I want to get for my car, if only money was no object!:violent2:
Plenty of room to clear the Z Bar................You will need to route your down pipe on the drivers side under the z bar off the header collector. Piece of cake.

The headers are now on my list.

Super Scamp 340, just a little FYI. That intake looks like ****. Go ahead and take it off and mail it to me. I will send you an edelbrock intake to help you out. Awesome looking car!!!!

Ordered a set last week also a different set of reducer adapters 2.5-2.5 and got the ceramic coated headers . Hope they are easy to drop in . I'll take pics and let you know how easy it was to install .
Thanks to all for the info .

looks promising, noticed you have manual steering which should help a lot. I need to stop being chicken$h!t and get a set but my P/S is scaring me (and I'm not willing to give it up!).

YEa, I also have p/s and want a set, Ill be watching your posts if you try a set.

Got the headers , they look good , also bought bigger reducers . Can't wait to put them on

I thought the design of these headers looked familiar.:-D
Sorry to be goofin on a serious thread but this just made Me laugh. Actually I really like the idea of running these short tube headers for a street driven car seems like they would really eliminate a lot of the hassles that go with long tube headers in A-body Mopars.I was going to get a set of these myself but I found a good deal on a set of Dougs D-453's .

I was thinking the same thing when I took them out of the box !

Do you breally need the mini starter ? from the pics it looks like there is lots of room , would rather not have to spend the $$ right now if it is not 100% necessary .
Thanks .
Will be installing on june 6 , have SS pipes from headers back being made , with cutouts so a few bolts and it's open headers for the track , will go electric when the money is there . Will use the centre console cigarette lighter outlet for the switch

Thanks , one less expense . That is one insane project ! , Just showed it to my son and now he wants to try something like this . Well I do have 2 spares , the orig motor and a 72 340 in the garage .
What compression are the pistons you using , 8:1 or a bit higher ? What about supechargers , had one on my T-Bird and it was dead reliable , 500,00 km and not one prob , didn't even burn 1/4 quart of oil between changes . Any body ever supercharge a 340 ?

62cc heads and approx 34cc Eliptical Dish Pistons with a Cometic .040 Gasket makes it 9.0:1 Compression.

Tada! lol, ok so i know my welds look crappy, but i'm a total newbie at welding. I got good penetration and that's all that matters. So this is just the passenger side, and I was able to retain 2 1/2 pipe by welding straight to the header flange itself. I did however install a shorter oil filter for clearance.

On the driver side, im going to bite the bullet and run the exhaust under the steering to make life simple. My car's been down for over a year now and i'm tired of not driving it.

I'll take some clearance pictures when I get a chance!

Thanks , that will help , on june 6 am installing , these pics are a lifesaver !! Now driver side is easy , no ? That should be a simple bend ,, ground clearance is my main objective , long tube headers always hit on my driveway , no matter how slow I go . Hope you have them on by next week with pictures , be a great help

had the install done , had to pass the pipe under the steering , no way to get it above . Not sure it was worth it , manifolds would have been easier . .The headers go in no problem , it's getting pipes to the exhaust that is the trouble , big trouble .

Got any pics of the ground clearance? Are they the same clearance as full legth headers when you have to run the pipe under the steering? I am thinking of this for my street driven car.

A bit better clearance than the crap headers , but under steering was ONLY way to route the pipes and retain GOOD FLOW. Had the best in the business ,( around here at least
) work on it , RAWTEK and there was no way to get above steering unless they were to take out the headers and redesign where the output was located , on both sides . Headers went in super easy(no lifting motor , big starter fits
) , just to make pipes to connect to exhaust was HARD .
With a simple redesign Hedman could have a great set of headers .
The car now sounds 100x better , have to get another sound clip

I'm pretty sure these are the headers I have. I bought them from Summit back in 05'. It looks like there is an interference problem on the passenger side, Though this was originally a slant six car, so maybe it would fit in an original V8 car. I'll try to take pics and show you guys. I do not have exhaust hooked to them yet. Looks like other people are having interference problems.

please post pics , I forgot my camera when at the shop , will try to get pics next time it's on a lift . Did not hit as bad or as often going down my driveway , just a small scrape . Will get pics . Not sure this is a great option , besides dropping in easily , ground clearance and exhaust hook up are problems .

So are you saying that if someone got their fabrication on, that you still can not get the exhaust above the steering linkage? I find that hard to believe. Can you post some pictures so we can all see what you are talking about?

Thanks

tried it with mini starter still no go , it can be done with a bunch of noodle pipes , but there goes your exhaust flow . The guys fabricating COULD do it but they really did not want to and have their name associated with that kind of work . Right now it sounds GREAT and goes much better than with the hookers that were crushed a bit .
So if you don't mind restricted flow you can fabricate it , but then might as well run manifolds .
If it does not rain tomorrow I'll get pics of it when it's on a lift .
Now if the outlet were a bit higher and angled towards the firewall it would have a much better chance of working . So cut the part just above the collector fabricate it so collectors are angled up a bit towards firewall and it should work better .
