hedman "tight tube" hedders?

-
I was hesitant about getting them and running them under the steering, but that looks awesome. I am going to do mine like that. Thanks for the pics

Will these headers fit a 66 barracuda?
Nope, passenger side maybe, driver side..there is this thing called a steering box right under the 3-5 ports, and that is where these headers seem to occupy....So nope.

I was thinking of going with the 01 Magnum manifolds and was told it wouldn't go with the Z bar. I have 71 duster manual steering, 4 speed. Will the headmen tight tubes work?

Manual steering with a 4spd is no problem at all with these headers.

My car is a power steering car and I have these headers. I know they work on Auto w/ power steering, can't tell ya if the combo of power steering and manual trans would be a problem. But yes they do fit on my power steering car, (it's tight though)

all headers come close to the steering box on all A bodies , fact of life . they clear though

From the looks of your car....do you think they'll clear a four speed? I cannot imagine why they wouldn't.

Well if they fit I stand corrected, I can admit when I am wrong no problem!

Yeah I thought the same thing.....then jerry posted pics of his car with um on it...and a big ole P/S box in the pic. Kinda hard to argue with all that. lol

Does anyone know if these will interfere with the firm feel short ratio pitman/idler arm?

I actually just talked to dick from firm feel today about this. We talked for a little while and he said if you can get the mid Pipe above drag link and tight to the firewall he thinks they will work. He also said he got a set of Dakota headers and is going to to try and make them fit. That would be cool if firm feel did their own modified SS Dakota headers.

That would be sweet, hopefully the price stays reasonable

Just wondering what the verdict is regarding the "Tight Tubes".

Are they the way to go for a street Dart?

Just a couple of months ago, one of the big 3 hot rod mags did an article on fabbing your own headers...there were a couple of new products to ease the fitting and mock-up. One of you really crafty guys needs to buy that kit and the Hedmans, and then fab up a set with the "improvements" I'll take mine in stainless please!:burnout:

...and at a descent price, I too would like some stainless.

The Sanderson's are nice, but $345 for uncoated plain steel and $515 for coated are a little pricey... at least for me.

The Hedmans are $295, and those are expensive enough.

I hear Ya ,budget is always an issue with our little A-bodies but fit seems to be prominent on everyones mind.I just wanted folks to know there's more than one option for shorty headers. And these are a lot less than I paid for My Dougs long tube ceramic coated headers BTW.

So after reading this thread I went ahead and bought a set of uncoated Hedman Tight Tubes for my '70 Duster with a 360. I had them installed and the downpipes fab'd like on jerry6's ride. Unfortunately I wasn't crystal-clear with the exhaust guy on what I wanted done and he used the small reducers that came with the headers. They are already welded up and I owe $250 so it's too late to put bigger ones in. How much power will I lose compared to the biggest size I could run (2 1/4")?? My engine is .060"-over 1975 block with KB-107s, 10.6:1 comp, Lunati Voodoo 60401 cam, Magnum heads with 1.6 rockers, and Air-Gap intake.
