This has probably be done before, but I could not find it. Wondering if anybody has pics of cars, that were crusing main st in late 70's or early 80's? I think new term is day 2 cars?

That's probably a little older then you were looking for. The only one i had readily available. I'll see if i can find a few others and post them later in the day. Can't wait to see some others. We can never have too many pics :D.

This may be a bit older than you were looking for, but it is what I was driving in 1977! Yes, those are spring shackles, traction bars and Gabriel Highjackers, headers as well as Fenton ET mags!

340 bench 4-speed with 4.56 sure grip. Sold it for $1,500 in July of that year - kicking myself for a long time over that sale!

My daily driver 1976 - 1979. 1971 Charger Superbee, 383 4-speed. Air shocks, traction bars, and ET alum slot mags. I put 72 hideaway head lights in it. I had a "good" friend in a salvage yard. :D

You should have said 50's and 60's.Not much happening in the time period you are asking about.Gas crunch and most towns had pretty much shut down crusing main street.

lots of cruising going on around here till mid 80's. Period I grew up in. I use to love reading cruising usa in car craft

love the look of air shocks, shackles and traction bars, give me some n50 15's anyday

6pak2go nice bee. Buddy of mine had one back in high school, it had air grabber hood and pistol grip 4 speed, it was a plastic bumper car. He lost it coming out of local drive in one night and side swiped a new lincoln.

Next is a car I re-built from a wreck in '78. Bought for $300.00. It was T-boned in the drivers side front wheel well. Did a body splice on it with another roller shell. Bought new fenders and hood from a Dodge dealer in '78 and re-painted it. Came out good for '78 standards. Sold it in 1980 for $3000.00. :banghead: Oh well, hind sight is 20-20.

The '78 Volare Road Runner in the back ground was my ex-wife's daily driver.

House fire "fixed" any photos I had. But even back then I didn't believe in "all jacked up" and tires stickin' out everywhere

At the time this was taken, (73-74) the former 440-6 car had a 340 with headers, original A-833, Dana 3.54. With that engine it would get about 17 1/2 mpg and stay right with a 383 RR or Superbee

Those are 4537's in the bumper -- landing lights

How about this shot? Inside Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge show room sometime in 1970. Drool...

And outside as well. Check out the shackles on the Super Bee, lol.

One of only two cars I had that I wish I never sold. From around 1985
70GTX1.jpg

440-6, 4 speed, 4.10 Dana and ran better than any other car I had including some hemi cars.

The other was a 1970 440-6, 4 Gear, 4.10 Superbee.

nice cars and pics guys

Crackedback is that van nuys?

Thats when a cruise night was more than sitting in a lawn chair

Nice pics so far. I've got 4 or 5 dozen from the Street Machine Nats East from 80' or 81' somewhere. Be perfect for this thread if i could only find them?:banghead:

love that duster pic.

Was my best friend's that i did all the work on. I looked for months to try to find something similar and came up goose eggs. The brand "C" in those photos was a regular customer at the gas station i worked at and offered me a deal that was too good to pass up, 40,000mi 396, 4spd. 4.10. for $1200. A week later my boy found the Duster and goes and buys it. I only kept the Chevelle for 10 mos. Got $1400 for it and went and bought my first Mopar....a 71' 318 auto Scamp for a grand. Nice B5 blue w/air, but it just wasn't the same as that Duster. I think to this day it's my favorite car of any i've ever been involved with.

A couple more......not trying to offened with the few "C" pics.
