My 4 year old grandson loves them. My daughter-in-law thought it was great that he likes Hot Wheels. She told me "they're only a dollar". Now he has close to 300, and yeah, Papaw bought most of them. I have quite a few myself.

Found Them!!! My 4 remaining Orignal 1968 Hot Wheels Red Line's!!! I knew I sold some off years ago (Dumb thing to do) & gave some of mine to my kids, (went threw all there's) & did not find these. Looked in 1 last spot & there they were. They are old & beat up (from actually being played with) but I still have them, & to me they are Priceless :wav:

I had hundreds through the 70's but they are all gone now. They were how my mom would bribe me to behave when I went shopping with her. Not really sure what ever happened to them.
Now I have a 6 year old son and he is getting quite a collection going. I love buying thme and they are very Mopar biased.

I hadn't bought any since the early '90s and only had a few. Plus mine from when I was growing up (mostly trashed). When my son was born 10 months ago, I used it as an excuse to start buying again. I started out just buying Mopars, I'd buy one for me to keep in pack, and the other for him to open one day. I said I wanted him to have memories of having "good" cars (Mopars) to play with. Then I started buying some of the cool Ford and even GM muscle cars "because I wanted him to have some cars to beat with the Mopars in races" 
Below is most of my collection of Mopars, I have more on the shelves. On the other side of the room I have all the other brands cars. My vision is that when he is older, he'll do chores or whatever to earn cars and he can have his pick when he is owed one

These are the display strips I bought that hold them perfectly. It says they come in strips of 12 hooks, but when I got mine, they were actually 24 hooks per strip, which is far better.
Oh yeah, I also used them to hang my patch collection, which you can also see to the left in the pic.

my son plays with all his cars til the wheels come off and i used to do the same. he gets a new one every week it seems.
in my opinion this is fate, but........he recently got a demon that is the hot wheels themed demon. he puts all his cars thru the paces on this little track he s got with 4 lanes and only one exit lane. its basically a race to the bottom..
out of all the cars he has..none have been able to beat that demon more than once. our mission when he gets a new car now...is to find one to beat the demon. lol
the fate part to me is that i only own two old cars and they re both DEMONS. LOL

This type of thing seems natural for car guys... I remember as a kid in the 1960s buying matchbox cars, Chevy Impalas, Jaguar XKEs, Double Decker buses etc. I think they were 25 or 50 cents in those days.
Then in the late 60s and early 70s Hotwheels were it. I owned many of the same cars as MrDodge69. I remember 6 or 8 of us kids getting together outside and putting all of our track together to create a huge racetrack all across a large hill. Great time to be a kid.

I still wish I had my Boss Hoss hotwheel. The Chrome Boss 429 car...
i ve got about 10,000 hot wheels yes 10000 about 582 red lights alot of rare pink cars skyshows with the planes staff car se hotwheels collect cars chrome ones cuda, boss mustang , camer, roadking trucks alot of heavyweighs, and alot of the new ones all treasure hunts up till 2008 and alot are pack up now into of the garage and i ve put out a few now will post photos later

I collect anything mopar. Used to collect 1/18th scale I have about 300 of those and now I stick to the little ones they are a little cheaper. Unfortunately mine are all in bins for now until the house is built and my hobby room is done. My brother collects more then me and I will take a picture of his toy room some time and post a picture.

I saved all the ones I had as a kid and have been handing them down to my son...I give him 2 cars every Sunday and he gets all excited over it....it's become a big deal in our house

Yep im addicted too. I have hundreds of them. I was born in 1968, but love all old cool stuff, so i started collecting the redlines i could find in good shape used from yard sales when i was around 10. My brother gave me 2 spoilers cars boss hosses. One was chrome. From what i understand the chrome versions of the mustang boss hoss, heavy chevy camaro, and king kuda barracuda were only available thru the hotwheels club at that time back in 1970.
I buy em for my 3 girls, and occasionally an early camaro if i find one for my wife. She loves old muscle cars too. The younger 2 love em, my 14 year old just puts em on a shelf in her room. I will be starting a collection for my 6 month old boy patrick. I just hope he loves this stuff as much as i do.
I probably have over 200 newer ones still in the Package, as well as johnny lightning too. Plus 1/18 scale diecast on glass shelves in my garage. I dont collect every one, just the ones i like. I was trying to collect the classics series ones but it got too crazy.
Rani there is a redline collectors club thru hotwheels, these come in special.RLC packaging, and are club only. You cant buy em in stores. They have the spectraflane paint, and old style 1968 hotwheels mag wheels, along with the thin spring wire axles, tho i doubt you would ever play with these. RLC comes out with a different one i think every 2 months, and RLC members vote on the body, and color it gets made in.
anybody into HO scale slot cars, im addicted to these too. I have a monster collection of restored 1970s aurora A/FX cars and racing rigs. I built a 4 lane slotcar track in my garage. When patrick gets a bit older we will start racing slot cars. I dont play with my restored A/FX cars, just too valuable and the bodys are to brittle from aging. I prefer the new a/fx srt chassis, and lexan bodies.
Plus i love model trains, i have atlas, and rivarossi scale "O"gage. This stuff is really nice, same size as lionel 027 gage, but better detail, quieter running, and scale 2 rail track. When the kids are older i will put it around the christmas tree for all of us to enjoy. My rivarossi 080 steam loco was a plastic O gage kit, with a seperate motorizing kit , i believe this was produced thru 1971. It was a blast to build and motorize, runs like a dream. Smooth n quiet.

If what you have are spectraflame redlines from late 1960s and early 1970s in good condition some of these can be worth a small fortune. What im trying to say is if these are those type of hot wheels they are not "toys" anymore but are worth serious money to collectors. My small collection of early redlines is valued at $2700. Most of these were snapped up by me in my early teens and never played with.
If these are those early cars, i urge you to hold onto them and not let them get damaged. Buy a copy of tomarts price guide to hotwheels cars and figure out their worth based on color and condition from 1 to 10 condition.

Yea, I remember I first saw the Boss Hoss on the back of a Cereal box and I filled out the form and ordered it. It was around 1969 or 70. Boy I wish I still had those cars of my childhood.... I had quite a few. Don't have a clue what happened the them. I might have given them to neighbor kids when I got older.
