NICE E-series and F9....i like the paint scheme on the F9

Rani... Im pretty sure that Great Northern is an F7... (F's are my favorite diesel LOL) .. F9's had an extra louvered filter between the front side portal and the cab ladder.. F7's did not..

I have a pretty large collection of model trains. Mostly HO, but I have some larger scale stuff from the 50-60s.

Theres a bunch of different brands. Heres a few of the oldest pieces. The last picture is boxed full of model trains, mini tanks and construction equipment.

cool stuff Adam.. the first pic is whats left of a Lionel 736 Berkshire.. I believe the second is in guts of a lionel steamer (probably 675, or 2025) some old Lionel tinplate (that would be in the 40's or earlier) a cool Marx handcar... as for the GG1, I cant tell which # it is.. as the stripes, and lettering appear all worn off (common for those) but I would put it between 1949-1952ish... got any plans for that stuff?

No real plans for it. It was all my fathers stuff. He gave it all to my son when he moved back here. I'll probably be storing it for the rest of my life, LOL
I tried to research some of it without much success. I have a feeling in its condition its worth more in sentimental value than anything

Very cool stuff Adam!! Did you play with those trains with your dad when you were little? Thanks for the pics :glasses7:

He had a pretty large track when I was young. Most of that stuff has been stored away as long as I can remember.

sadly Adam, you would be right, it present condition they're pretty rough.. but... Lionel made some tuff toys... if you were determined to get some of that stuff back in operational order (say the 736 berk...) just like with our Mopars, there are tons of people repopping parts (plus plenty of people that scavanged parts over the years and sell them.. that stuff can be brought back to life for sure.. While I understand what you say about 'probably storing them for life' lol.. I am of a differant mindset, Id get a few pieces out, clean them up and display them..

and that GG1.. though the body is beat, its mostly missing cosmetic pieces.. the pantagraphs, cab ladders... they repop all that stuff.. I wouldnt be afraid to bet with some fresh grease and oil that baby still runs like a top LOL

This is something I will probably do at some point. Pick a few pieces to display and possibly sell the rest. Right now I dont have the room.

if you ever decide to part with the GG1... let me know..(I would wind up restoring it)... cool stuff though for sure.. thanks for sharing

The Pennsy is my favorite railroad.. the GG1 was a Pennsylvania Railroad engine, so.. obviously I would have some interest in that LOL

Heres some more pictures. I'll see if I can find a picture of the brass train.

For the record.. the tender in the first pic (of your second group of pics) goes with the engine in the 4th pic...

I think the 3rd one down was the brass train.

I believe your right.. I was never much into the brass stuff (but there are people out there that are all kinds of into brass trains)

I would assume the brass train is the oldest ? 30s or 40s maybe ?

I actually think your Lionel tinplate may be older.. Im not too up to speed on the brass stuff.. I know in the 70's that was becoming the rage in model railroading.. Im good for answering Lionel questions.. but stuff like brass, not so much LOL

back in 07 when I sold my house, got married and moved into Monica's place, i didnt have a basement (my old house had a finished basement) so the train room, my collection of Lionel, and the train layout got packed up and went into storage... where its still at.. However, my wife was cool enough to let me put some shelves up in our bedroom, so I could put out some of my favorite pieces.. (periodically I rotate stuff, which is what I was doing the day I took this pic.. you can see the New York Central set now on my dresser getting ready to be packed away) .. so.. heres just a small amount of my stuff...
