A step in the right direction,got my driveshaft back today,and IT'S RIGHT !!!! Also got good news on the Gear Venders unit.Don't have to send the whole unit back,just the shaft that's too short.Just need to do an exchange plus shipping! I can handle that !!!Shouldn't be too much longer I hope !!!!:prayer::prayer::prayer:
 
Had to replace one of my Autometer gauges.Ohms for reading were backward ! Empty read full,and full read empty !! Story of my life,don't know if I'm coming or going !!!!Buy getting closer never the less !!:prayer::prayer::prayer:

Don't hurry anything. I got in a hurry and frgot to re-install a fuel hose I had unhooked temporarily and look what happened to my '72 last Friday....

By how minimal the damage was (yes I said minimal) you must have had a fire extinguisher on hand.

I've seen some cars burn to the damn ground because people don't keep and extinguisher in their shop. disgust

I was reading an article in a Mopar Mag recently,and they were saying the same thing.All these little FE's used at car shows and the like aren't good for much.They suggest at least a 5lb bottle,and CO2 !We'll be looking for some new bottles for our cars soon !!

The fire melted all the insulation on all of the underhood wiring, the distributor cap (but not the rotor... lol!) the carburetor's rear float bowl, the spark plug wires, and all the rubber vacuum/pressure hoses.

The fire melted the outter sheathing on the Bouchillon throttle cable and the transmission kickdown/throttle-pressure cable.... hafta replace those.

It didn't damage the MSD Boost Master boost-referenced, ignition-retard system; it was on the inner fender panel on the driver's side... the fire was pretty much confined to the passenger side...

I will have to replace the entire under-hood wiring loom.... everything. But, they sell those wiring harnesses; it will just take time... (and $200.00...)

I already have everything else I need to get it running.... just have to order a harness... :banghead:

I had a new fire extinguisher, but was unaware that the fire was being fed (from the electric pump which I had neglected to turn off,) an ongoing supply of fresh gasoline from the fuel line I had FORGOTTEN to re-attach to the float bowl... so, with all that new gas being added to the fire (I couldn't see it for the flames and was brain dead to the fact that the pump was still running,) the biggest fire extinguisher in the world wouldn't have put that fire out.

But, the intensity of the fire and the fact that it was burning as fast as it was being pumped onto the engine, kept it from spreading I think, in retrospect. The damage was pretty localized... just extensive in its nature. It burned for at least ten minutes before this idiot realized that the pump was still on... and went to the trunk and shut it off.

Thanks a lot, Dennis.... and, you're right; nobody got hurt, and it was nowhere near the house or garage, so there was no fire danger to anything else.

It's just parts... about $750.00-worth...

So much for a trailer this year... disgust
 
A $750 oops would set me back at least a year...but if this is the worst car related mistake you've made, not so bad...

I Know this is "hindsight", But this is a good reason for a oil pressure/fuel pump safety switch. If the switch does not see oil pressure, the fuel pump does not run. When I ran circle track, that was required, if you had an electric pump. I do not have it on my current drag cars, but since you rattled the brain cells, it will be the next thing I do, on them.
