O.K. This might be the most stupid question.. Why does my crank have 7 bolt holes and when choosing a flex plate it's either 6 or 8? Am I a dummy?? lol.. Thanks in advance!

What do you know about the crank? What motor is it? Are you sure you're not mistaking the offset hole for a threaded hole! It it opposite the index notch and is not threaded, on a small block anyway!!

I'm thinking 6 bolt! Geof

All 5 smallblocks I've had in my late 60's early 70s cars were 6 bolt.

Could it be two separate bolt patterns for 727 or 904, or some other adaptability situation?

Are they all close to evenly sapced around the flange? Or is one closely set between 2 others? Sounds like an indexing hole is there, which is not uncommon.

While I cant say why yours would - I know some aftermarket cranks can have two patterns on them. IIRC some 4" stroker cranks have/had a small block chevy pattern too. I think it was a Callies that I had that had the Chevy pattern too.

O.K. I feel stupid now! lol..I opened the plastic wrap from the Eagle crank and it does have 7 holes but, only 6 are threaded! duh... Find me at Carlise and laugh!..
