318 exhaust manifolds on a 360

Just got back from Ecology junk yard in Chula Vista CA. I picked up a passenger side exhaust manifold from a Grand Cherokee last 4 of casting number 9376 with 2 1/8 outlet for $16.00 out the door (50% off today and tomorrow). I know they have at least one more in there as I looked at the numbers if any one is interested. Now I need a 340 drivers side manifold or will a 92-93 Dakota manifold work on the drivers side? Car has manual steering This is for a 1973 Dart with a 360.

The car is a 73 Dart Swinger. Was power steering changed over to manual a couple of years ago. Did have a Slant six now going to a 360 and absolutely do not want to use headers.
Treblig I want to thank you for your hard work on testing and posting casting numbers. I would never even thought to use a Grand Cherokee manifold and I own a 1996 with a 5.2. Again thank you and keep up the good work.

The driver's side magnum manifolds will fit on a-bodies but it depends on whether you have P/S or not, column shift or not and you also have to be willing to make some minor modifications to the manifold and/or the steering shaft. It's easiest to find a 340 manifold for a good price. There are quite a few members who have used a magnum on the driver's side just DO NOT BUY a Cherokee driver's manifold :banghead: as it will not work at all because the 360 Cherokee has the starter on the passenger's side which leaves a large space for the driver's manifold to turn inwards right where the Mopar 318/360 starter resides. If you have P/S the magnum will not fit, many have tried and failed.

just read the article I have been frustrated that my dart doesn't have hedders yet but after reading that its not worth the hassle thanks
 
Let me know if you come upon a set for my 69 Dart with a '79 360, Manual steering and Brakes, Console shift.

After the FABO crash, I'll try again. I sell these 340 and 360 manifolds and I noticed that one of the 340 driver manifolds (supposedly an early one, pre-70s) is designed a little different. The only reason I have some interest in this fact is that many FABO members write me asking if I have manifolds that will fit their EARLY A Bodies. I know that some members have used the Dakota driver which I also sell and some have used other later manifolds. Anyway, when I received one of these early 340 driver manifolds I lined it up next to a later model and did notice some big differences. These differences should make the early 340 driver more adaptable to the Early A engine compartment. If you look at the pics you can see several differences. First, the early 340 (in the foreground, first two pics) is relatively FLAT in the section that goes past the steering, if you look at the later 340 (in the background) it has a definite bulge. This is one of the areas where there is always interference on the early A bodies. The early manifold (without the bulge) should clear the steering shaft much easier in an early A body. Second, the early manifold rises up sooner and higher (second and third pic) than the later manifold which would aid in clearing the steering box. Third, the early manifold sweeps away from the steering box sooner as it rises up and over the two front spark plugs (pics 5 and 6).

I'm writing all this information to find out if anyone else has had better luck installing the early 340 manifolds in their early A bodies. I do know (from much research) that Early A bodies with P/S have the hardest time getting a 340 to fit BUT I don't know if the early 340 would have a better chance with P/S because I haven't really read about anyone being specific about which manifold (early or late) was used in their early A body. The last pic is of a later 340 (post-1970), it can be easily distinguished by the heavy rib on the top and bottom of the manifold.
There are many members who would benefit from more information on this subject.

I put the Dakota manifolds, with casting numbers 76 and 77, on my 72 Khuda with the 318. They fit tightly against the power steering and I even had to grind some of the wall external to make adequate clearance. I really love them, I think they are about to Outlook diameter, but I opened it up to about 2 1/4 with some grinding

cudaracer, I tried a casting number 77 (grand Cherokee driver) on my 69 Barracuda (318, P/S. P/B, A/C) and had trouble with it hitting the starter because it turns inboard right where the exhaust pipe connects. The 76 is a good fit on the passenger side. It would great if you could post some good pics of the manifolds in your engine bay to help others, especially around the P/S and steering shaft/collar.

So what did you end up doing?
I am lucky I have 2 sets of 340 ones. So ported my 1970 for my 70. And will use my 1973 ported 340 ones on my 73.
Is it worth saving the 2002 Van 360mag ones I have on my Van that is going to the crusher?
