Just a weird question. What weird hobby or activity do you really enjoy doing that other people look at you like you're insane? Besides old cars, that is. Me, I like fixing computers. I'm not the best, and I'm mostly just a hardware guy. I've been known to work all night on a computer that is giving me issues (like last night), but I love it because there's just something zen-like about tearing a computer down to parade rest, fixing whatever was wrong, and then putting it all back together again. I do get into some software, mostly adware/malware/virus removal, but it comes with the territory.
This was how I spent my weekend. The one in the far back on the left is my personal laptop. It's where I go when I need to look something up. It's also my jukebox when I'm working. The one in front on the left is my old Gateway laptop. I retired it back in February when I got my current one. It has a persistent overheating issue, and I was cleaning it out and reapplying thermal paste.
The one on the right is a freebie Gateway we got from a friend about five years ago. I'm just finally breaking it out and fixing it up. Nothing majorly wrong with it, just another Gateway that is prone to overheating so I'm cleaning it out and applying thermal paste. That one I actually tore completely down. The only thing I didn't do was pull the motherboard out of the bottom case. But as you can see the two that were operated on are still working nicely. Of course, the one that we got in 2009 has a buttload of updates to do (193 for the first round, IIRC) but it's all part of the fun.
