I have bought and sold a lot of things here in the almost 10 years I've been a member, and for the most part It has been a Positive experience. But then along comes this deal bought a used MSD 8534 SB used distributor and it arrived on time packaged well and from the outside looked just like it did in the ad. Took the cap off and it was a solid ball of rust! I contacted the seller and this is a quote of what I sent him today at 9:09 pm EST
I got home today. The packaging was great , the outside looked great. Have you looked inside of it lately? It is a solid ball of rust! I'm not wanting to buy a new reluctor and a magnetic pickup to the tune of $88.64 plus shipping and go through the labor to install them. I wanted and thought I bought a "ready to run" distributor. I just a soon return it for a refund.--------------Roy

Bullshit! My engine or car has not seen water in 15 years. I don't know who's distributor that is but I know its not the one I sent you. It is impossible that there is any rust on that dizzy. That does not even look like rust!

You really think I'm lying to you? And that this is not your distributor? I have no reason to. I've been a member here in great standing for over 10 years. This is why I pay the extra fees to Pay Pal, I'll let them handle it.
And this is the best reason to pay the Pay Pal 3%. Dispute is already started.

His response was that does not look like rust? What does it look like then? Good luck Roy.
 
Looks like a 1/2 gram of copper, cash that in!!

This is his response to the Pay Pal dispute.

  • 6/7/2016 23:18 EDT - Seller: This distributor came out of a Detroit Autorama show winner. It has not seen water in 15 yrs. I had no less then 5 people standing next to me when I pulled it out and I can get statement that there was NOTHING wring with that distributor. I have never sent anything I or my crew have not checked out. I am absolutely outraged that this person is accusing me of sending that. The whole motor is chromed and the car has been stored inside for 15 yrs. The distributor and motor ran fine until pulled.
 
But the whole motor was chromed. That means the distributor is perfect. geez.

He might. I 'm not familiar enough with how that works but at least you are able to help others not get shorted. Yes those deposits are strange looking. If he doesn't refund your money you might have to try to clean the thing up. Is the stuff loose? Could you blow it off with compressed air?
 
This will be EASY to prove one way or the other. Here's a photo of the "for sale" item by the seller

All the OP of this thread needs to do is post a photo with the cap removed, showing the dist in this same position. The scratches and marks on the body will tell all

I Must Call BS too I have dealt with SGBARRACUDA a few times both ways 100% lagit Do the right thing and send all his cash back , because SG has 40,000 strong behind him. 1 bad sale in here gets settled in here publicly without named , you want it back you pay the ride. yah it "could" run with the rust they all do ,but that's rediculus ,to even think of selling here , that's a free bee for an emergency. I would just be imbarresed ok enough from me just make it right ,I know sg will just forget you then . OTHERWISE ha ha ha ahhaha

Thanks for the kind words and for your vote of confidence. I would like to think that I have enough of a good reputation here for you the members to believe I would never try to pull a fast one or try and get anything for free. I have contributed to several charity events and helping another members here several several times. Even traveling to Ga to built a handicap ramp for a member that needed it built, furnishing time and money. I do hope you the members realize this and know I don't need to cheat this guy out of a damn used MSD distributor! It really eats at me that he accuses me of it not being his distributor!

you don't have to sell me on you I KNOW YOUR A GOOD FABO FAMILY GUY !! hope he heiths to warning give him till Monday then outs him if he doesn't . 15 years ago it saw water and it sat in there for that 15 since is what it looks like.
So why did it see water 15 years ago instead of never seeing water at all?
Was it from a flood damaged car?
 
I tried to duplicate the pictures as best I could while showing the reluctor and mag pick up.

Looks like it has that same big semi-circle scratch on the hold down. Looks legit to me.

Well he only has 18 posts. And the only threads he's started is to sell ****. Not really a contributing member I would say. Maybe Joey or someone can ban him until he does right and returns the money and takes the item back. Hit him where it hurts. The wallet.
