Now I know where my missing power went. How can I get black plugs?
Well what did you get on the comp test ??I will post compression results tomorrow. First thing that I looked was is the throttle opening all the way and it was. I need to email PTC and ask do they make high stall converters for lockup trans and what prize.
Fuel mileage doesnt really matter to me but often I drive long trips on higway and 3.23 gears are good for that. Now engine doest scream too bad at 60 miles per hour. I understand that if I want performance these gears need to go.
You say the sky is blue, he says no.Sorry, had to. and last but not least
There is other reason too what can cause black plugs, look and read link about spark plug basics what I posted before. It it written by NGK and there is good info even if you think you know everything already.Black plug is showing you what your combustion efficiency is looking like.... sooty plugs whether it be exhaust reversion or pig rich needs to be looked at. If it's that rich you could be washing the rings of oil. Have full compression #'s yet? About these home made headers, how long the primaries? Short tubes that dump into a 2.5 log? How about a pic?

I know from fuel mileage and exhaust gas smell (yes Im that hard core tuner) that its not pig rich. I have also setted fuel screws to optimal settings. Carb is almost new and has worked before so I dont think It can be pig rich.
And if you know how engine works with big camshaft youd know that there is always exhaust reversion in low rpm/idle. Always.
Iv been bussy at work I dont have compression test done yet. The shorty headers suck for performance I know. You dont need to tell it to me after I show the pics to you. They are like normal headers but short primaries maybe 10" and collector is 2.5" and it tapers fast to 2"
Exactly. And if you drive at low speed and/ or short trips, then your plug doesnt reach the normal operatin temperature. What happens? The plug turns black. Did you read the whole article? There its clearly been written.{{ title }}
This article? The one that says your plugs should burn off once reaching operating temp! Maybe you should read and understand the WHOLE THING instead of picking out one line to try and justify your problem because the answer is in there.
You must drive 100 yards at a time, because my junk is up to temp a mile down the road.Exactly. Go to your car, take your finger and put it in exhaust pipe. After that look at it and see it turned black. Yes its carbon. Yes its normal even in engine that is perfectly in good shape.
Distange to work is about 300 yards, but sometimes I drive long trips too.You must drive 100 yards at a time, because my junk is up to temp a mile down the road.
Well doctor is doctor. But I dont know who here is expert and who isnt. And engine is complex thing in deepest level. Sure basics are easy to understand.how many doctors do you go to when you're sick? its not rocket science, these guys(who have helped me directly or indirectly) many times are all telling you the same thing. this thread is like an accident on the side of the road, you just cant help but look!
David Vizard has said that engine is a complex air pump. I bellieve that.i think you need to better understand the word basics and how it applies to your "predicament"
Cool. Dont take too many and come back here to argue.i believe i need a beer!
Im glad that your Demon works as it should be. Im not stop working on my car until Im at same point. I dont know when I find time to do compression test. Maybe In weekend.i think i better run down to the lickme store and stock up on beer in my demon that fellow fabo members have helped me to get runnin real sweet, definitely not disappointed in its performance!hows them compression numbers comin along?
