Ads do not bother me none...of course I work and it ain't window shopping for me....
..of course I work and it ain't window shopping for me....
I think he's saying some people don't work.
Not everybody likes and dislikes the same thing. While some may can simply ignore the ads, they get on my nerves. And I am not the only one.
After the 30 days and the ad is closed. The ad will still be there correct, you will just have to PM the person to see if it is still for sale. correct?
I kind of like the 30 day since posted idea but what keeps someone from bumping the ad to forever
Wouldn't happen if the adds were closed from the start. Muddy is how it is now.
Could the classifieds forum be changed to be by subscription like the "news and politics" forum? That way people that are really upset by sale ads could "opt out" without effecting those of us that want to see the ads? I always need parts. Even if I don't need parts I still sometimes buy them.
If the thread is closed, will we still be able to leave trader feedback?
I like the idea of closing after 30 days inactive. But, could they still be marked 'sold' later? I think a lot of guys have gotten better at marking them, so if they can't go back the thread will always look like the item is still available. Effectively making more 'open' threads, just not on the front page. Same with people opening a new thread instead of bumping it. The original thread is still there and looks like it never sold.Nothing - but then the item must still be available or they wouldn't be bumping. The whole point here is to keep ads from being posted in when the owner isn't here or the owner forgot to mark the ad as sold. When someone posts in a thread, then its brought to the top of the list. So an ad from 2013 for example, could be top on the list again.

If this IS the whole point, then 30 days is too aggressive to eliminate a 3 year old post from returning. The whole point here is to keep ads from being posted in when the owner isn't here or the owner forgot to mark the ad as sold. I agree with the point that @zkx14 made here...If I'm creating additional threads every 30 days to advertise the same part, when the part finally sells, there are multiple threads to be marked as sold.Effectively making more 'open' threads, just not on the front page. Same with people opening a new thread instead of bumping it. The original thread is still there and looks like it never sold.
It's not just about who likes what. There are plenty of members here, myself included, that use the classifieds and sale ads to buy parts to complete their projects and keep their cars running. Now, since I'm pretty sure you don't own an A-body anymore, that's not you. So maybe the ads don't have any utility for you, but you're not the only one here. Buying parts here has let me get a lot more for my money than buying everything I need from eBay, or spending days and days driving all over to go to swap meets that never have any Mopar parts, or worse, buying everything new. And I've gotten some great deals on parts I'm using on my car now, and more than a few for my other projects. It's how I can afford to have as many projects as I do.
You listed a ton of parts on here a few years ago Rob. Just because you're not selling parts here anymore doesn't mean no one else should be able to. Scrolling is really easy. Even clicking on the button to go to the next page is pretty simple.

Maybe just because he's gone during the day.Still waiting on what was meant by this.

Perhaps there is a better interval to use that would solve the problem described, without increasing the efforts to sell a used part...
No. We get a lot of new people because of the for sale ads.
Still waiting on what was meant by this.
You also encourage people to stop posting ads due to your own personal policy of no email or phone number allowed unless people pay you extra.
Real world contact information also discourages scams & scammers, it gives you an address or number to google to see what comes up.
Every site out there that I list stuff on requires contact information or no ad, but I will not list stuff here anymore unless your policy changes.
I don't think that I've bumped my ad (myself) for over a year but I've still sold numerous sets of manifolds because someone does a search and bumps my ad to the top. If you change the system my ad will no longer get bumped and many members will never read all the info that's in the ad???
Whatever it was -- let it go.
