Hi all I'm looking to buy a engine tilter/leveler attachment for my engine hoist. On Ebay they range from $52.00 to $179.00 Any suggestions would be appreciated or what your using would help. And what is the combined weight of a fully dressed 383 and 727 trans? thanks in advance of your opinions :thankyou:

The load lever I got (cheap US tool) had chains that were quite long and made getting the motor up and "over the hump" (radiator support or fender) impossible so I had to lower it and get another bite on it at an extended boom length, just an FYI as it does add to the overall chain length. The handle to turn the leveler was too small and it was near impossible to turn it when the motor was slung. Lather up that worm drive with grease.

I bought the one from summit racing. Had to shorten the chain on my hoist and choke up on the leveler chains too. Also the crank for the worm drive was useless and i had to fab one out of large dia rod. As mentioned grease that sucker up.

I got rid of the crank handle and welded a nut on mine, so I could use my 1/2 inch impact on it. It works much faster that way.

I have a cheap HF one it works ok but the handle is a pain might do the nut on it like stated above.

I don't think I would want to be swinging the weight of an engine and trans, and changing the CG with an adjuster that high in the air, over the front of the car (and me). I'd save the money and install them each on their own. Now, with a gantry crane and a chain hoist....

Any one use a engine plate? I just don't trust them lifting a engine on a aluminum manifold.

Used em many times on alum intake. Just gotta be sure to have the correct thread bolts , and snugged down good.
