AMD discontinuing Mopar parts

-
Glad I got what I needed for both cars. Also theres probably lots of these parts left in stock on Ebay, Tamraz, year one, classic industries and others.
Doubt it, most AMD stuff is dropped shipped from AMD’s Georgia warehouse.

Save all of your crying until the day you go to buy it from the guys who bought up the remaining stock and resells it. It'll be as much as the NOS stuff is now. $$$$$$$
I think it was Dante's ??? that sent me a pm yesterday listing his stock of AMD sheet metal like 50% off. Better hurry!

I get pm's from AMD every week about new sheet metal parts, it is always FORD stuff!!!

I had gooten to the point years back, IF I can not fab my sheet metal patches for a project, I just pass!

The hobby gets harder and less fun all the time it seems.

People will now hoard the discontinued items and make a lot of money on the markup because they will be deemed to be in the same category as "Modern N.O.S.'' reproductions.

Be at the forefront. Buy them out and you can be the one making big bucks on all of it in a few years. :)

Mopar guys are cheapskates. They don't like to buy anything. I don't blame them. Mopar stuff probably only accounted for a fragment of their sales.

Isn't that the truth. Hate to say it but abody guys are the worst. Hell the only ones worse then abody guys that I've personally come across are the Jeep Cherokee guys. Those Cherokee guys make abody guys look like big time spenders.

Just another reason to go modern muscle. Also a sign that more and more are ditching their classic muscle and going modern muscle.

Luckily our dart is an original paint rust free car and my express truck other then the doors is rust free. Would hate to have to buy and replace sheet metal on either vehicle.

This classic Mopar hobby is less and less fun every year for me. And
After buying the Cutlass and seeing how I can buy just about anything I want for it out of a catalog makes me wonder how much longer I'll abuse myself with the mopar hobby. Every day I think more and more about selling the dart and express truck and being done with this mopar stuff. I think i should just go buy a modern mustang ragtop and be done with it.

for me dam sure wouldn`t be a ford , too many bad and too little fords in my past.

I think a lot of you are missing the point. They didnt discontinue the common to "ALL" A body stuff like rear framerails, framerail tie bars, trunk floors, main floors, outer rockers, inner and outer wheel houses, trunk drops, front inner fenderwells, lower radiator support, upper and lower cowl plenum etc because its structural, and commonly either rusted out or cut into for wheel tubs and crap.

The quarters you can buy a 67 one and make it into a 68 with just a strategically placed hole from a hole saw. In fact I used to do just that back in the day. Making it into a 69 would require a little more effort with the recessed reflector. Reuse that section from the old panel. Heck my trunk pan has the correct filler tube hole for a 70-76, but not 67-69. That's not a deal breaker for me. I'm glad to have a complete brand new trunk floor. I can either modify the sheetmetal for the earlier floor grommet, or buy a 70 up floor grommet and cover it with a trunk floor mat.

Like everyone else, I do like the fact that there is repop stuff available. Its waaaay better than it was for this stuff in the 1980s and 1990s where the stuff was non existant and you hunted the midwest for donor cars. But when the sources of this stuff dries up, I will go back to what I used to do before that. Everything back then was a scavenger hunt, repurpose, or make what you need.

Maybe after riding high on the success of B and E body cars resurgence, AMD thought A bodys were gonna be the next "BIG" thing. Maybe that didnt happen. I dunno. I dont work for them. Just speculating. I doubt they lost money on any of this stuff. They have to purge what doesnt sell. If you have a few projects waiting in the wings that need this stuff that's being discontinued, then buy up what you need. When your credit card bill comes, take out a small loan and pay it off. Then you have what you need. Discounted duster fenders, damn I wish they had cuda fenders. Buy em on sale stash em away.

Stamping dies do wear out and require rebuilding to use again, but not with the small amount of parts runs that were made. I think the same framerail goes from 1963 or 64 to 1973 then changes for the impact bumper shocks. Think about how many A bodys were built between that timeframe. That's a lot of stamping. I realize outer body sheetmetal dies require a bit more mtx to stay nice, however the amount of outer body parts done by them on a hobby level compared to factory production of say 80,000 vehicles per year isnt enough to wear em down.

They are getting rid of stuff that's not a mover. I mean I just bought barracuda coupe drip rail mouldings for 2 cars. From what I have seen, people use coupes as parts cars for fastbacks and convertibles. As such, I imagine it was a slow seller. I am glad they made it, but understand why it was discontinued. Also who would buy the standard barracuda valance when you can buy the dual cutout one.

The 67-69 fastback full quarter discontinuation I dont understand. Theres a lot of those cars out there. Or maybe like others, I fall into the cheapskate category but I wasnt going to buy fastback full quarters for $500 a side, then hack the tops of em off for a coupe. I bought goodmark skins. I hear they dont fit as good as AMD, but God willing in about 6 months from now I guess I will find out for myself how good they do fit. My projects condition leaves me no choice in the matter.

I could be right, I could be wrong, but this is the way I see it.

....and even though I'll personally never go modern muscle, working with Matt these last few months has opened my eyes. The LS platform is head and shoulders above anything Mopar has ever offered. Bar none. Everything is available and it's easy peasy to put a fuel injected LS anywhere. Even stand alone on a generator. lol They have simple transmission control for either the 4L60 or 4l80E. While us Mopar guys struggle to find transmission control for anything, the LS crowd can have it the next day. It's easy to see why people are going that route. 300 bucks for a junkyard 5.3 and 200 for an EBay turbl and you have an instant 600 plus HP. I wanna see somebody do that with a new Hemi.

I disagree with the A body guys. B Body guys are the worst for sure. They want everything for free. I call them the fords of mopar!

A Body cars, most of them are a cheaper cars If you're priced right stuff sells like crazy. I post stuff for B body cars that I know is a fair price and they pm you low balling you so bad its embarrassing to say these guys are mopar guys. Sorry for the good 10% out there.

^^^ I sure see some high priced Ford projects and cars around here! Basically the cheapest if us are as follows, cheapest and up.
M,R bodies, then F bodies, then A bodies, then C bodies, then B bodies, then E bodies!!!! lol OK so maybe there is some overlap!! lol
I give cheap a whole new meaning!

We are lucky AMD did what they did. There was nothing out there for us. All I can say if you have projects for the future Buy your parts now and put them away.

Actually Mopar cheapness needs to be broke down by model! B body guys, cheapest is first gen. Charger, then early B unless a real MW, them 66-7, then 73 up, then 71-2, , then 68-70, then big spending 2 gen Charger!! The very cheapest if the 4o-50 cars!! lol
My wife gave me the nick name of "Chirp". Even claims I have a flock of Canary birds flying around me schreeching " Cheap, cheap, cheap".

I recently bought an older B body. I got a pretty good price, but it needed floor pans. I looked in the Classic book, and the pans were listed. Then I saw this post, looked at the AMD site, and part I was wanted was discontinued. Oh crap.

I called Classic this morning and ask if parts from AMD were shipped directly from AMD, or did Classic have some parts in stock? He said they did have some parts in stock, including the one I wanted. I didn't waste any time ordering it.

I am sure Kramer has a lot of these parts. From what I hear he was involved with AMD on all these 63 to 65 parts.

I will say it AGAIN< Dante's has a lot of this Mopar AMD stuff half off!! WHT call Classic?????????????????????????????????????????????????????/
