So at some point before i pulled my motor i havd an exhaust leak. I narrowed it down to the heat riser shaft bushing. Mine is gone does anyone know what size it is or where i can get a complete setup. Taking it off all the way is out of the question as it works great otherwise. Thanks.

Try Martin at Arizona auto parts. Maybe Or measure it and find a oil lite bushing that will work. Need to do mine also.

Thanks everyone, ill keep an eye out for an nos rebuild for it. Maybe ill get the caliper out and measure and buy a small assortment of bushings to see if i can get something to fit.

Just to update if someone ever looks this up in the distant future. On my stock unmodified 63 exhaust manifold the bushing size is 5/16ths I.D X 3/8 O.D fit great just put a little silicone on the outside to hopefully keep it in.

Im assuming you have to remove the shaft to remove the bushing and replace? mine is nearly seized solid

Yes mine fell out on its own. I was just gonna remove the whole thing but since i drive the car in almost zero degree weather i figured id try and save it.

Thatll work. I walked into fastenal told them what i needed. They handed me a loose sleeve and i handed them a couple bucks. Easy as pie.

That silicone is going to fricker-fry into a cloud of smoke (in the air) and gritty ash (on your manifold) shortly after you start the engine. If you're relying on it to hold your new bushing in place…it's not going to happen that way.

Sorry i guess i used the term "silicone" to loosley. It actually rutlands stove gasket cement. Ive used it to repair a crack in an old pot belly stove years ago. Figured if it worked then itll work to hold in a little bushing. Good for up to 2k degrees of roughly 1090c.
