I got my new bushings etc from brewers and installed but its been years since I removed the z bar and I don't remember if it was crooked...Wondering if this is going to be trouble?

looks to me like you are using the wrong pivot ball plate on the bell . That shaft should be at right angle to the fender and the bell at the same time.

If this is a factory big block A-Body it looks like you are missing the spacer that goes between the ball bracket and the bell housing.

Here is a picture of what it should look like. If you need the measurements I can get them on Tuesday.

The bracket is on the outside of the inner fender just above the frame rail. Look at the picture I posted of the turquoise car above, that will give you a general idea of where it is supposed to be located.

Looks like something was added there. May need to change the frame hole location and stock bracket. The Z bar should be straight across in any view.

You might consider fan and firewall clearance if you by chance have the engine too far rearward.

Mid page shows parts and exploded views in link below. Both sketches show the bracket 90° off. But a picture of the bracket below is correct.......
Mopar Big-Block A-Body 4-Speed Conversion
HemiSSdart picture is correct as well......

With this BB I barely have room for error...as it is It looks as though I will have to shave a fin from the back of a valve cover to clear the blower motor. I don't want it further forward because it looks like I will need the room for my fan...
Also, (perhaps a rookie question) doesn't the trans xmember set the front to back pretty close to where it has to go give or take?

MT's on my 440. Plenty of clearance. Go to be a almost 1/4". :D

Yeah it should. Then too, dealing with a conversion it's worth a look IMO.

I swapped out my original bb linkage for all new stuff from Brewers.
I had to modify the bell bracket to level it.
Don't really know why, the only change was to an 18 spline trans.
