340 Build Final Combo. What Do You Think?

So after sleepless nights and pacing at work I have finally decided on my 340 combo. I’ve looked at almost every camshaft available off the shelf, made some calls for a custom grind but finally decided to go to my special place (my bench covered in cams) I decided on this obscure voodoo cam deciding to save the 250 and put it elsewhere. (pictures for specs) here is the combo.

Short block came from a parts car-
Speed pro heavy .030 flat top. .020 out.
Stock rods with aftermarket bolts.
Forged stock stroke crank. Windage tray and fab pan.
10.1:1 static
8.1 dynamic


Top End-
J heads 2.08 valves some mild porting (see my earlier post in the week for port pics)
Air gap or tunnel ram haven’t decided.
Holley 750 double pumper (not for tunnel ram)

Exhaust- 1 3/4 long tubes into 3in X-pipe dumped at axles.

Accessories- alternator and water pump
(Electric fans)

Extra info (chassis)-
Car is 2900# without driver.
4 speed (2.66 first)
4.10 8.75
Aluminum flywheel
Aluminum DS
McLeod clutch( yes I know)

Let me know what you think. I’m ready to get flamed.

Should be a strong runner with the 4 spd. :thumbsup:
 
I wouldn’t use that cam with a tunnel ram, but I like it for the single 4.

Two 750’s would be perfect for a tunnel ram, and they would NOT be edelbrocks.

Edelbrock carbs make me sick lol. I’m probably not gonna run the tunnel ram I just had it sitting around. I like intakes that stand up on the port lol. The air gap I also have laying around and will go with. It’s gonna be a daily so if I compromise on the build it will be in the single vs dual plane department.
 
I’m also really hoping I have no piston to valve clearance problems. I don’t think I will but I can always cut a little more if needed.

You say flat tops but those should have valve reliefs.

Yes they do it was implied. I didn’t know I had to describe it like summit. Flat tops with two valve reliefs.

I don't think that combo has a snowball's chance in hell of piston to valve clearance.
 
Wow...$350.00 for a cam?

That cam isn't far off of what my kid runs in his dirt modified. Should be OK.

What world do you live in exactly? Doesn’t know head gasket thickness or any general clearances of the top end. Did you look at the cam specs? Look at the valve events and get back to me. Why must you always bust my balls when I post.

I didn’t read it incorrectly you wrote it incorrectly. Just a Misunderstanding but go back and read what you said. You said there is not a snowballs chance in hell to have piston to valve clearance.

That's right. I typed it right. No way you're gonna have piston to valve clearance. It was in no way shape form or fashion a smartass, demeaning or otherwise skewed response. I simply said IMO you don't have to worry about it.

Solid flat tappet and lifters. Don’t forget I’m averaging off the shelf and custom.
OK.... wondered about that. I bought two in the last 90 days. One was $255.00 (Jones custom) and one was $159.00 (Howards old grind but still available on request). Lifters $90.00-ish.

No, not been grumpy here at all. Might I suggest you limit your opinion of my responses to THIS thread in the HERE AND NOW and not worry about the past?

I know I know I’m just being a baby. Sorry Rusty. Hopefully it will be strong. I’m hoping for 110mph I’ll be happy with more though.
