I am looking for a vendor for an original 340 exhaust system using the cast iron manifolds for a 1970 Dart Swinger. Did these cars use an "H" pipe? I also see "X" pipes? 2.5 pipes? 2-1/4? I would want at least and aluminized system if not stainless. Any advice for mufflers? I intend to use the exhaust tips as well. Thanks

TTi will custom bend a complete exhaust in 304 stainless “H” or “X” from manifolds back.

I bought mine from Waldron exhaust. Nice family run operation. They are a little slow, but were about half price of Accurate & it fit well.

Don's will get you a very close reproduction. They might be at Carlisle right now.
No X.
I'm not 100% positive for 1970 but there was no H on 340s in 1968 and 69. Look in the shop manual.

Differences I'm aware of from the pre 70 cars that might be releavant to your 70.
Accurate's pipes use the correct muffler hangers, but last I checked, not the correct tail pipe hangers.
TTI uses the correct tail pipe hanger but hangs the mufflers their own way.
Accurate's headpipe gasket is a nice repop with a fire ring.

don't think factory made x or h pipes , i have the TTI system aluminized which is a waste of money they look like crap after 2 years stainless is the way i'll go next time factory correct or not

tti's tail pipe hanger is not correct in my experience

Thanks for all the posts. I was going to carlisle but a friend that went said many dealers didn't show. It's 6 hours for me. Maybe next year. I will call to see about the best fit and if I can get stainless. I did use the aluminum for a past project. it's been over 20 years and still in good shape but if I can get stainless that's a big plus.

As far as the hangers, if I get the right hangers from someone else I wonder if they will work with the TTI? I will mention it to them and see if they are aware of this.

Does anyone know what treatment or what is best to do with the stock cast iron updrafts? They look like crap later as compared to a lot of other detail work done oin the engine compartment. I used Eastwood paint in the past. It lasted awhile...

Thanks I was looking for his card. They were at Carlisle this year

stainless just doesn't look right on a restoration.Aluminized looks correct and mine is like new after 5 years use.
I don't drive in salt or snow either.
