EFI and External Fuel Regulators

So, just browsing info on the different ways to set up EFI on these old dogs and I see that some are internally regulated (Sniper) and some aren't (Sniper Stealth). Is there any reason not to mount the regulator at the rear, in order to avoid taking the return line all the way to the front? I'm talking in-tank pump setups, something like a 'Tanks Inc' or Aerowhatever unit. With the pressurized fuel supply, as long as you get your desired pressure at the TB it should be fine, right? I haven't gotten real far into it at this point, perfectly content with carburetors, just wondering as an EFI may be in the future plans for my street beast--and I like the Stealth system and how it looks kinda like a carb.

I'm using the Holley drop in pump on my dart. I capped off the return fitting on my Sniper throttle body. It works perfect and the best part is the pump is SILENT since its in the tank. My old frame mounted pump was pretty noisy.

I used an AN cap fitting. I loosened it up and wrapped a rag around it and primed the fuel system to make sure there was no air. But that shouldn't be necessary. Its been working great.
 
That's the configuration I have. A Tanks Inc tank, with their Wahlbro pump going into a Corvette filter/regulator just outside the tank. The return line coming off the filter/regulator is about 2 feet long and goes bank to the tank, and I only have a supply line running up to the front. The Corvette filter/regulator provides 58psi, which matches what my FiTech needs.
 
I ran an external EFI pump and a corvette regulator on a 5.9 magnum with factory EFI. I ran that setup for many years and it worked great. The corvette filter/regulator is a nice piece.

Thanks for the reply. I have the intank installed in my Dart but wasn't sure how to take care of the return. Figured that was likely how you did it. Unfortunately leaving tomorrow for about a month, then upon return head out for deer hunting so this will not even get looked at for some time. Sitting in garage under a car cover now.
