I am looking for a reliable supplier of a complete 8 3/4, 489 third member built up with an with a Eaton Tru-Trac, 3:23 ring and pinion.
Thanks in advance

@DoctorDiff !!!!

I have a brand new 489 with 4.30 gears and an Eaton TrueTrac from him. The only thing I would do different is the Eaton. DoctorDiff has his own version that he calls a “sure trac” that has an extra set of helical gears compared to the truetrac, and that’s what I’d get if I had to do it again. The Eatons have had some complaints...

Sounds like he's looking to buy an entire hog head all ready to bolt in.

Good info
I was not aware they were having issues. What's the problem?
I have a Dr Diff Sure Grip now I want rid of.

Exactly what I bought. Complete nodular iron 489 style case with the 4:30 gears, TrueTrac, 1350 yoke with bearings and everything assembled.

The Eaton TrueTrac’s have had issues with vibrations and noise. Some are worse than others, but it’s a result of the 4 gear design IMO. I wasn’t convinced until I started running mine, but there is some additional gear noise from it. Cass even swapped the ring and pinion out for me because he thought it might be the R&P, but I’m pretty convinced at this point it’s the Eaton. I don’t think anything is “wrong” with it, but I would get the 6 gear version if I had it to do over.

Why do you want rid of the Sure Grip? Other than the need for a friction modifier they’re dead simple and have a good feel.
