nice Duster! Interesting build, I have never seen it where the front grill and radiator support isn't there.. it's weird seeing the radiator floating out in space like that.. you get it running yet?

Thanks for your reply, not running yet got it boiled down to the Valves learning to set the values my self. I have to talk to Engine builder for the lash. Found some pics of Front end the fenders, hood and trunk are Fiberglass. So I made bracing from 1/2 in. Square tubing to hold the fenders , hood and grill. Sorry for the delay in response I was at the Gator nationals in Gainesville Florida. Great race!!

Glad you can still enjoy it. I for one, just can not watch a bunch of people running around with masks and commentators shoving 5ft mikes out to the racer for his or her comments. Relatively no spectators anywhere. The virus is coming, the virus is coming! The people that are promoting this scam will love that I have stopped watching it, that is their objective. Get out and breathe people.

Just did a compression test and it’s not good #1, 110 #3, 132 #5, 122 #7, 105 #2, 120 #4, 120 #6, 105 #8, 130. Now what, valve lash is the one thing I haven’t checked. It’s a solid lifter cam I don’t have the cam card but the lift is around 575 any suggestions on cold valve lash?

if i didnt know at all, and was lashing cold, i would probably do 16. Thats more like 22 if the motor was hot.
22 is fairly middle of the road for a lot of flat tappet cams.
Wont put you far enough off to cause any issues i wouldn't think

hope you get the engine going well . that is real low compression for a high perf build ,, lucky you got that 702 hp backup engine

This 340 has a lot of time and money spent so I’m not giving up just yet The motor came off the dyno and didn’t try to start it for all most 18 months so it can’t be anything major. though my back up is calling my name. Only Ben down the drag strip on a bike back in the day so I wanted to start out with the 340 first and when I got board with it drop in the 392 magnum. I watched a lot videos on settings valve lash but not comfortable doing it myself so looking for the right local guy to do it and then keep my fingers crossed it will run...

Does your balancer have a timing tape? Is the balancer correct? You can Google how to adj your valves in 7 90° turns of the crankshaft. Have you thought of leak down testing ? It will tell you eactly where the air leak is.
You can have an engine builder assemble an engine, or someone build your whole car for you, but unless you can find someone to maintain it for you, you will have to learn at some point to do most of it yourself. Not trying to be a smart ***, I am still learning too, always will be.

Thanks man l have built this car from front to back and the only things I cannot do is motor, trans, reared. Narrowed Dana 60 with a spool. If I can watch someone do it and ask questions the next time I’ll be able to do it. Like you say you’re going to have learn it.
