For some reason, I seem to remember seeing tents that were made specifically for the Pontiac Aztec
It would cover the rear hatch, so you could sleep in the trunk

Always liked the idea, but felt like the execution was a little lacking

U r correct. My buddy has 1. Everything all factory. Last summer someone stole the factory thermos out of it. He was pissed. Kim

I just don't get camping. Out in the semi-wilderness, take a dump along side a bear, never before seen bugs species in my sleeping bag. Wife getting lost in the bush (hey, wait a minute, ........ nah, mother of my kid thing and all that ) lyme disease, poison ivy, also a snake, who could very well be the devil. My brother on the other hand could live in a lean-to, hunt squirrels :elmer:to eat, and drink water from an animals hoof print left in the dirt. Gotta do a DNA test on that guy :D

That and Aztecs where crap!
that and but ugly, i always thought they looked like a 90s lemans, stretched up along the rockers

but, it is odd this tent thing is something that i guess was sold with the aztec, and not something that had a more rugged reputation, like the trailduster or bronco

Yea they are hideous. I worked with a guy that bought one brand new and he was having the transmission replaced after 5k miles I think he ended up putting 3 in it while it was still under warranty. And waters pumps too maybe? I cant remember exactly but something with cooling system kept failing. He wisely got rid of it before the warranty ran out. We use to joke with him all the time and say you have to change transmissions with every oil change! Haha

"Pop up" type campers in my opinion are VASTLY overpriced both new and used. No matter what, ALL of them (with the possible exception of "Four Wheel Campers"/ Grandby) are fragile, not nearly as strong as they could be, and yet "used" they command ridiculous prices

Is that a factory setup Kim? Buddy and I went to new car show 2 years ago. I think it was Ford had a very cool similar setup for their trucks.

Just buy a 56 Nash, seats fold flat, pump up the factory mattress and put the factory window screens on

When I was a youngster one of the family cars was the much hated 54 Nash Ambassador, and we made good use of that "rolling kingsize bed" on a family truckstoria through the LOLO country of MT.

Exactly like this U.S. Navy battleship clone, except ours never wore the front skirts

Growing up we had a lot of station wagons. (M & D & 6 kids) We put foam mattresses in them when we went camping. Usually weekend fishing trips.

Shaggin-wagons; mid 70s
Mine was a 65 Valiant V-200; fancy curtains, 8-track stereo, endless loop cartridges, tailgate picnics.
outdoor-potty
Eventually a JY 340 found it's way under the hood, with a 318 cam and top-end..

My old B200 Sportsman camper boogie van, a shaggin' wagon with a stabbin' cabin (I wish!) isn't self-contained, but it does have a 5-gallon bucket with a toilet seat on top.

Now if I could just find someplace in my home town to stealth camp without the cops rousting me at 3 AM. No luck with that so far.
