Caltrac’s and high rpm doesn’t mix

-
Yellow Rose is spot on!
Your car is leaving, 'neutral'.
When you installed your CalTrac's, did you tighten the front spring eye bolt down 'tight', or did you leave 'slack' in it? There HAS to be slack in the mechanism or the CalTrac's won't work properly, they will bind up.
The Nyloc nut supplied is not to prevent the nut from backing out, it's to allow freedom in the front eye, so that the bars will work.

Of coarse there's a limit to everything... Steve Wann likes to run it loose too. Too loose in this run against John Winslow at Bakersfield.

Removed the 85lbs reset bars to a nickel gap and we are back to the bouncing the tire

Tighten the rebound doesn’t seem to help
Only thing it does is stop the separation
Man what a pain in the *** these things are
I will drop the rear tire air pressure this weekend just to see

I'm probably wrong.. but wouldn't you want to loosen the rebound and tighten compression. That way when it hits the tire it keeps the pressure on it and promotes separation? I'm trying to learn all this fancy shock tuning stuff. Lol.

The guy I mentioned in Post 79 runs 1/2 to full turn of preload on the car in the video.
Starting point is zero. Just tight enough, where you can still move the roller on the spring.

Hey Joe sorry to hear all about all the trouble you are having. I can't add much but maybe ask Jason Teague how he has his duster set up. He has a 71 plymouth duster with a gen 3 N/A Hemi with caltracs. I know he is useing a transbrake. But I don't remember what shocks etc he is useing.

I’ll ask him. But I believe he is leaving at a lower rpm.

Ok just Incase anyone else can use this info
This is the spring relocation boxes from US cartool has 3 different front spring mounting locations
I went from the top hole to the very bottom
Which raises the rear of the car but should lower the instant center
Went to a pro bracket radial
And have roughly 10 passes on the since the
Changes and 10 passes have been perfect
According to the 60 and the video ,
I have been leaving at 4500 all weekend then and after I was put out of the race this weekend I put the two-step to 5000 which is the video I posted .
Which help of Jeff w8/904 combo guy
I believe I’m actually making some progress

Went to a pro bracket radial and basically the same shock setting as I used with the slicks .

Was that in 2012? i was there that year, and they had to change the oil pan.

I am also an N/A gen3 hemi but I footbrake and leave at 1500rpm.
For what it's worth the front is right down on the bumpstops and tire pressure is 12.2 on 12x29.0 Hoosiers. 60' is 1.45. Calvert 90/10's on the front and Calvert single adjustable on the back about 1 click from full loose.
slant 6 torsion bars up front and stock 318 leafs in back.
I see you are in Houston. Do you ever take it to Little River?

I love Pine Valley but haven't raced there in about 3 years.
I thought Evadale was closed.

Same guy That is Running pine valley is running Evadale, pretty good index program
check out the Facebook page and come join in on a index race. 7.0 or a 5.80
To choose from , the payout is usually good depending on the car count .

good to hear that Evadale is still open. I tried a 6.60 index once but just couldn't get the pro tree since I was footbraking and setup for sportsman tree. Had terrible lights like .1 or .12 and was in the trailer in a hurry.
